Re: How hard do you have to shake a baby to kill it?

Thanks for giving me the benefit of the doubt Hammer. I am glad you see that this topic has the potential to be educational.

Oh. It's you. Here to "educate" us all again. How delightful. I'm off to ban your sockpuppet now, gbagcn2. - Hammer

How hard do you have to shake a baby to kill it?

If you know enough about the baby is there any way to calculate this or approximately calculate it? Also what about other baby animals? Maybe its easier to calculate it for them compared to humans.

Misheard and misread words

Has there ever been a time when someone said one word but you thought they said another one. Or you glanced at a written word and you thought it was a different word at first. For example I can think of 2 times right now that this has happened to me (even though I am sure it has happened much more)....

Will cell phones of the future have brain scanning tech?

I was trying to think of technology that is expensive now and will probably come down in price and one of the things I came up with was brain scanning technology. Do you think this will become common enough to be eventually added to cell phones of the future? If it is I am sure many people will not ...

Gravitational waves as a form of communication?

Do you think this will ever happen in the future? Would it have any advantages over using electromagnetic waves?

Anyone else listen to internet radio?

For a while I was having trouble finding songs that interested me but this suddenly got much easier thanks to internet radio. Internet radio has a much bigger variety than regular radio so I like it much better. Anyone else listen to it and if so what stations do you listen to?

Do people write reviews for online courses?

Usually before I spend money on something I like to read reviews of it first so I know how good it is. I have been thinking about taking an online course but I have trouble convincing myself to do it because I am afraid that it will be bad. If I could find multiple good reviews for a single online c...

Can you copy a file using hex editors?

I remember trying this a while ago. I would open a file with a hex editor, highlight all the text, and then copy and paste it to a hex editor with nothing in it and save it as a new file. I tried this with a few small files an it seemed to work but I couldn't get it to work with exe files for some r...

How can you be too old for something?

I have seen people claim that they don't do things like play a certain game (or games in general) or watch cartoons/anime because they are too old for it (or they might call it kiddy). What I don't get is how you can enjoy something when you are a certain age and then later grow out of it. I kind of...

How far can you get in this infinite mario game?

http://users.soe.ucsc.edu/~bweber/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=infinite_adaptive_mario The best I could do was get to world 145. I have played this game for many hours practicing to get this score so I would be surprised if someone could beat this. Also I found a random glitch that causes enemies to stop sp...

A rectangle with rounded edges is not an oval

I was having an argument about this with a girl in my class (not a math class). In the class the desks were set up so that they formed the shape of a rectangle with rounded edges. She said that this was the same thing as an oval but I pointed out that ovals don't have parallel lines while rectangles...

Where can I find the source code to many simple programs?

I have read many math articles on wikipedia and know a little programming so I decided I want to learn more. To do this I want to look at the source code of many simple programs and see if I can figure out how they work on my own (with maybe a little help from google as well). The problem is I don't...

Re: How often should you use the word "maybe"?

I guess it has something to do with this fear that I have of being wrong. If I say something might be true instead of saying it is true then I can't be proven wrong. Also even though scientists usually don't say what they don't know I have seen it happen. For example they might list unsolved problem...

How often should you use the word "maybe"?

I have been accused of using words like "maybe" and "I don't know" too often. I have also noticed other people tend to avoid using them including scientists. I think people should use words like these more often though because there is alot of uncertainty in the world. What do yo...
