Re: Elder Scrolls: Discussion

With a bit of practice, I figured out how to beat them without taking much damage. I'd usually make or find a paralysis enchanted weapon and use that to keep my distance while wearing him down with ranged frost spells (purchasable in Seyda Neen). The only trouble came when I encountered a bug in one...

Life didn't come into existance twice (or at least, this doesn't show that), this is just another bacteria, with a huge number of shared characteristics showing that it's from the same lineage as every other bacteria, that usually makes it's DNA out of phosphorous, but this study claims that when ph...

The process of the sperm "burrowing" into the egg is quite complex, and there are a number of proteins essential to the process that they could be targeting.

The name sounds slightly akin to [u=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Icarus]Icarus[/u]. I wonder if that might be tempting fate slightly, given the solar link. Not just slightly akin, Ikaros is the latin spelling if Icarus. Supposedly it's an acronym, (Interplanetary Kite-craft Accelerated by Radiation...

One thing to realize is that the numbers for both of those are likely from ingestion. If you injected tetrodotoxin, I'm pretty confident that it would kill much, much faster, so it's still a possibility. No idea how you'd look that up, though. Are the efficiency gains high enough to outweigh the absurd cost? It's not as though we've run out of sunny places to put solar panels. Wouldn't it be significantly cheaper to just put them in the Sahara, and use wires, rather than microwaves?

I don't think anyone can make hunting work properly in 2010 yet, but I seem to recall quivers being a major sticking point for some people. I'd recommend breaching the cavers, and if they're reasonably safe, secure an area for plant harvesting and farming on the conveniently muddy floor.

The fish passing through a grate/fortification is a known bug in which flowing water can push objects and creatures through. If the water is still, it's impenetrable. Also, I'm pretty sure that you can't carve fortifications out of constructed walls, though you can build them prefortified.

Have you breached the caverns? They're usually not too heavily populated, but stuff does come through from time to time, and more things will wander in from an underground map edge. I haven't had any invasions, but I rarely have the patience to stick with a fortress for long enough.

Yeah, it's standard practice to breach the HFS with a miner/mason, and disable all other masons, so s/he can seal the breach before anything slips through, with a massive military presence and perhaps ballista emplacements in case some or all slip through.
