Re: How do we eliminate/minimize racism/sexism/<group>ism?

Embracing cultural heritage leads to racism. I think wiping out that would be the best way to do so.

Re: Stargate: Universe

Yeah Greer was great in that episode and it was nice to see he developed some respect for Eli. I don't know if they can really avoid an encounter with the ancients on the show but I think its something they are gonna hold off as long as possible. The plot is really bland right now. Oh no aliens, Oh ...

Re: Let's ACTUALLY listen to each other's music!

Well I never heard one of their songs and thought DAMN I love this band, I should find some more. It all seemed kinda average to me.

Re: Half-Life vs. Half Life 2

I would actually argue that the lack of detail shows how good the story telling is. Consider: Gordon Freeman (and by extension, you, the player) has been in some kind of stasis for between 10 and 20 years, and suddenly wakes up one day on a train. He is soon pursued by the local law enforcement, fo...

Re: Stargate: Universe

AI was never really something that the ancients were shown to have any interest in.The one time they tried they apparently made replicators and that ended poorly. An ascended watching over the ship would make alot of sense. Either out of nostalgia or a desire to see more stargates seeded.I doubt the...

Re: Borg vs. Zerg

There is too much wrongness about star trek in this thread to address it all. Its overwhelming. But I will try to point out some errors. 1. Trek shields cant stop physical impact. This is was never show or stated. Ever. Starships have survived direct collisions with each other and with sizable debri...

Re: Half-Life vs. Half Life 2

Half life 2 failed to surpass the original in literally every way. would you like to list these? [Also, double posting=bad. Its called the edit button] It clearly surpassed it graphically, and arguably in story telling and plot, and easily in terms of characterisation. So not literally then. Unless...

Re: Half-Life vs. Half Life 2

Well I'd say that's a silly measure for the quality of a game. Maybe HL1 was the best that could be made at the time. But time has passed and we are capable of making even better games now, and I believe HL2 to be one of them. I think the main quality HL1 has that HL2 lacks is nostalgia. People pla...

Re: Screaming in Music

Thats the point of what I said. Its been around a hell of a lot longer then 20 years.Guns and Roses screamed would you call them screamo? What about every punk band that screams? What about Metal? I bet I can find some yodeling from the 50s that sounds alot like screaming. You can split hairs anyway...

American culture still strikes me as too immature to handle this. Until we stop glorifying pot we probably shouldnt legalize it.

Re: Screaming in Music

Screaming doesnt really make a difference to me. If a band is good its good regardless, if its bad its bad regardless. Its become a cliche today and I rarely find myself dipping into my screamo library of my youth. Id still say the only bands that made any good use of it were the ones who started th...
