Re: Yearbooks

Keep in mind that not all yearbooks are created equal. I was on staff for two years, and we were quite vigilant with our production. After a section finished one of their spreads, they would go over it several times for errors. It would get sent off to the publisher, who would then send back full-si...

I remember at my middle/high school for certain actions you would get suspended for 10 days, which were veiwed as unexcused absences. As you were only allowed 9 unexcused absences each semester, you were essentially expelled, but they just didn't want to say expelled. ?! Another fun thing to point o...

Yeah, I'm really glad I took the course. The majority of those ten days were spent learning to drive in the rain, which was actually some pretty good preparation (I learned to find the windshield wipers FAST).

The ten day course was Driver's Ed. Normally in high school you can take a semester long class for it, but I didn't have room for it in my course load. Oh teacher quotes, how I love thee. My friends and I survived high school by writing down and comparing the strange things our teachers said.

During a discussion of Buddhism in my AP World History class, our teacher piped up with "All monks are flammable if you use enough gasoline."

Eight basic scoring regions? The only areas you can get a point for hitting are the head (men), wrist (kote), torso (do), and throat (tsuki). We don't really concentrate on the scoring aspect in my dojo. While we want our students to learn how to strike, move, and kiai in harmony, what we really want to see is them develop as a person.
