Re: The Liquor Thread

That's really neat! I've wanted to do something similar for a while, but I never really found what I was looking for (at least for less than ~$300). The top of my fridge is pretty much at capacity right now, though, so I'll need to do something soon! That looks like a decent solution on a budget.

Re: The Liquor Thread

New Amsterdam is not very juniper-y at all. I love it in an Aviation and keep a bottle on hand for that reason. But it makes a mediocre gin and tonic. Beefeater is a bit more expensive but is great for that classic london dry taste. Personally, I generally have New Amsterdam, Sapphire, and Hendricks...

Re: Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy

I still find it somewhat amusing, American breweries have been beating out Belgians at making Belgian style beers at the World Beer Cup for a few years now. I am guessing thats because the Trappists probably don't enter their beers into the competition. I didn't see any medals for Westvleteren, Orv...

Re: Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy

I love Belgian styles. I have spent a good bit of money on Belgians across many different styles from Duvel to Rochefort 10. That said, I can't stand American versions of Belgian beers. They're too sweet, no depth, and seem to have forgotten to add hops. I agree with the point about food adding som...

Not an enormous fan of Asahi, but Tsing Tao is a great beer, on the East Asian side. But Cobra and Kingfisher are essentially British, and are tasty in a similar manner, and Grolsh and Tuborg are continental ones that fill that niche. Also I like the taste of Carlsberg, despite having its own varie...
