Re: 1905: Cast Iron Pan

I assume that cast iron pans are some kind of fresh hipster hell that had passed me by. Is high-maintenance medieval cookware the new thing, in the same way that not having gears on a bike is the new having gears on a bike? More of a foodie thing, which doesn't completely overlap with hipster. Well...

He explained why the reflected sunlight wouldn't be enough to start a fire with his comment at the end: Buzz Aldrin is still alive. We have put lots of stuff on the moon. Much of it, it is true, is pretty reflective, but some of it is not. These things on the moon are surrounded by roughly a hemisph...

How long would it take earth to be destroyed? I'd take as a first approximation the gravitational binding energy of the planet, and see how long it takes for that much energy to be dumped in. In reality it's going to be a lot more than that, because the earth is going to heat up and be radiating ene...

What's mysterious about the Lindbergh kidnapping? The baby was kidnapped, and later killed. Some people doubt that the person who was arrested for it actually did it, but that's unfortunately true of a lot of crime. At the end of the day, some person grabbed him, then killed him. You don't even need to make oxygen first, you can just directly reduce (some) moon rocks with hydrogen. Requires pretty high temperatures, but cutting out almost 90% of the mass you have to ship has to be worth it.
