Re: What Slang Do You Use At Work?

The other day I started thinking of weird slang i've used in some of my jobs, and I'd like to hear some from other people. Like Hollywood Video used to do this thing called "Suncoasting", which was a way of arranging their DVDs. Employees would put one video with the cover facing outward,...

Re: 한국어 연습 (Korean Practice)

As you can see my Korean is pretty bad but I would very much like to practice with someone. I'm staring my third year of study next year, I took a year off this year to focus on my Masters' Qualifying Exams. I also need to fix the Ubuntu SCIM input method stuff so ...

And "th" is no harder a sound than "s". I'd even argue that it's softer, as most commonly spoken. While "soft" isn't a very well-defined term, you are right. The "s" sound and the "sh" sound are two of the most acoustically powerful sounds a human c...

Re: "Effect an Effect" discussion

What annoys me is when people hypercorrect their use of "he" and "she" instead of "him" and "her". E.g. lots of people say things like "me and my friends went out", grammar nazis then step in and say "You know, you should say "My friends an...

A lot of you don't seem to realize that haiku's are more than just writing a 17-syllable sentence and then breaking it up at the correct word boundaries.

Your haikus all suck.
Phrases should fit on the lines.
Go back to pre-school.
