Re: "Ahead Stop" discussion (#781)

My favourite is

CHILDREN FOR WATCH SCHOOL

That, and the "Hammer Time" that people keep writing on the bottom of STOP signs.

Re: Swine Flu

Ha, I just ran into something comical: http://twitter.com/crackmonkey74 hah, everybody's gonna start making twitter accounts for all of these things now. I hope Randall realizes how much power he has over the Internet <.< Totally - guess what all the Twitter searches for swine flu are about right n...

Re: "Matrix Revisited" Discussion

if it wasn't for that last half hour of ROTK... why couldn't they just have run with Tolkein's kickass ending?! Gahh... </rant> Umm, not sure what you're referring to there. The book ends with Sam coming home and saying "Well, I'm back", and so does the film. I thought they carried it off...

Re: "Matrix Revisited" Discussion

Sequels better than originals: Empire Strikes Back (and it does count, Star Wars was originally intended as a standalone, Lucas's retroconning notwithstanding) Godfather 2 Neither Aliens nor Terminator 2 is better than their progenitors. The LOTR films were intended as a whole trilogy from the get ...

Re: "Depth" Discussion

I don't think I get any of these jokes other than the iPod and Rick Astley. Nothing that a few minutes on google can't fix though. :-) On the other hand, I do get the Planck length one. But the other thing that is 2000 or so pixels below the bottom of the comic is MY planck! What's Randall trying to...

Re: "Still Raw" Discussion

People only care about five because of base ten. In reality, five's kind of an awkward number. Much more important to be able to divide things into clean thirds than into clean fifths. I really think you only consider five to be an 'awkward number' because you live in a base 12 system. In a base 10...

Not until ten is divisible by three.

Maybe if they switched to working in base 9 the transition to metric would be easier?

If the Kb is currently 908 bytes, it was the same size as the kB in 1979, the KB in 1982, the KBa in 1957, and the leap kB in 1985. And the same as the KiB in 1979i ... an imaginary year in which the Ayatollah returned from exile to rule over the Moon, Three Mile Island exploded in a shower of mars...

Another reason why speed reading is bad: When I first read the alt text I thought the security guard was told to skip the memories of my mom, implying I had undesirable (probably oedipus) thoughts of my own mother. Clever mom jokes are so much better when you understand them. Wait. That's not what ...

Every certificate of inspection I've ever seen on an elevator has always been expired for at least a year. I wouldn't want to try this trick. did a maths degree a few years back and have never used any of it... great to see that it is finally of some use, even if it is just to get the jokes in this comic ;-)
