Pizza stones are awesome. Ever since I got one my home pizzas have been so much better. I put it in the oven, and turn it on to it's max setting, put the kids to bed, then start preparing my pizza. By the time the pizza goes in, the oven and stone is as hot as they're gonna get.

I now know what going ham means.

And I strongly disagree that liquor is cheaper here. Exhibit A: UK - $60AUD vs AU - $100AUD

Re: Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.

I have a vague recollection of some propaganda from the craft scene that there's evidence that having people drink craft reduces alcohol consumption. I think it was around craft beer but it really is the haziest of memories.

Makes sense though. I can't afford to drink all I'd like.

Re: Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.

In Sydney, the cheapest 6 pack, VB, was $14 AUD, which at the time was about $13 USD. Sam Adams was something like $18. Sierra Nevada was at least $21. This is about right for Australia. A craft beer six pack from an Australian brewery will be about $15USD. A sixer from a large American brewery lik...

I do disagree that cider is inherently more expensive than beer though. Sure, it's more expensive than mass market lagers, but is no more expensive than the craft beers listed throughout this thread. I totally agree with the statement that brown ales are super-varied. I don't really have any expectations other than 'do I like it', and since I like a bit of hoppiness I've fine with it. But I do love me some Moose Drool. I can get it in cans here now, and that's great.

Me too, I actually really like a massive IPA now and then, but I'd go crazy without some variety. I even like a nice lager now and then, my favourite local brewer just started one and it's got enough flavour to keep me happy, and it's great since we're in the heat of summer at the moment.

You should try some brown ales, they are more malt-forward and traditionally not bitter. Also, milds. I did have an American Brown Ale that had a bit of hoppiness. In generally I have a big problem with massive hops not balanced out by massive malts. I've had a few IPAs from American brewers which l...
