Can some people from California post theirs? I am curious what they get instead of "People from California can't handle natural disasters".

edit: never mind, it's on the reddit thread. It's the lake diver one.

Re: "Analogies" Discussion

Is the idea that synecdoche is a synecdoche of the set of things that relate one word or idea to another word or idea? Sort of weak. Synecdoche is more a kind of metonymy than analogy.

Excluding the one Sony my co-worked owned where the hinges broke because he pushed it back too far, I haven't had any trouble with sony computers. They're very pretty, and they tend to go higher-end than most other comparable PC distributors.

I'm pretty sure that's not how plasticity works--I think that you can still learn a language fluently for pretty much the rest of your life, it's just that you won't have that great of an accent.

Insomnia Now! So apparently there is an explanation for http://imgs.xkcd.com/comics/good_morning.png which is that light makes us adjust to a new time-zone. So our screens are maybe making us sleep at weird times. This is an inference, and has in no way been peer-reviewed. Speculation. However, the...

About the IV drip--I'm pretty sure they're in the process of making something for which you don't have to be tied down to a machine, but that's for medicine that you don't need several pints of. An IV drip sounds so cumbersome, though.
