Re: 1132: "Frequentists vs. Bayesians"

Haha, Labyrinth. I actually bought the film because a DVD shop had it playing and that answer came up with the guards. It also came up in an episode of The Powerpuff Girls . On what I assure you is an entirely unrelated topic, anyone here believe the world's going to end on December 12th? Far more ...

Re: 1078: "Knights"

Wow, has a history nerd I found this hilarious. In the Battle of Agincourt, the French army that outnumbered the English army of Henry the Fifth (the French army also had a significant force of well-trained knights) fought and was defeated by the English because the longbowmen (outranging French arc...

Re: Firearms

I'm surprised no one has posted anything involving Representative Giffords in the past few days. How'd a mentally unstable man legally buy a handgun? An automatic Glock, for that matter; and he managed to obtain a 30-round magazine. Considering he had an obsession with how "fake" Giffords ...

Re: The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim

I'm glad they took out the Major and Minor skill system. No more benefiting from the level scaling system by majoring in skills you don't use. But one thing I don't like is dual-wielding. Honestly, Morrowind and Oblivion were better off without it. Oblivion's daggers were already too overpowered end...

Re: Firearms

I honestly don't know which solution is better. Perhaps because both of them are equally as stupid as each other? Newsflash: the world doesn't exist in binary format. Rarely do things have to be one extreme or the other. For instance, you presume that the only people capable of shooting one another...

Re: Minecraft

Wait, what's so hard about Hey0's mod? Just create a bunch of "kits", and all they have to do is type "/kit [kitname]" and get everything listed in that kit. I know servers that put in a bunch of diamond equipment and torches because honestly, in multiplayer servers, that just ma...

Re: Firearms

Honestly, there are two approaches to gun control laws, in my perspective: 1. Let everyone have guns. Just like nuclear bombs, if everyone has an equal advantage, then no one will abuse the advantage. 2. Control gun availability tightly. If no one has a weapon, no one can use a weapon. The problem w...

Re: Glowing Trees

Is it sad my first thought was that'd be a neat mod for Minecraft? This was my first thought too. Anyway, if you can inject a jellyfish DNA into bacteria to make them glow, I don't see why you can't put bio-luminescent material into trees to make them grow. It's eco-friendly, but won't they be too ...

Re: Non-kill-centric games. (I know...that's not a word)

MineCraft can be a good game on Peaceful if you don't like fighting.
Even then, it's a sandbox game. I usually avoid fights except for the occasional rushing-out-with-a-sword moments.

Re: The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim

I always hated Morrowind's and Oblivion's attribute raising system. It just never made sense to me: you were rewarded for taking skills you never used as major skills because your attributes would get to 100 faster (remember monsters scale to level). I liked Fallout 3's system, though. I hope they d...
