Re: "Movie Narrative Charts" Discussion

Ahh, xkcd is back in fine form. I was getting worried that it was slipping.

Re: Abstruse Goose Philadelphia

I am a Penn student.

Good point about the time, it does say tomorrow. And my feed reader says it was just posted today around 1pm, so I guess that means Saturday?

Abstruse Goose Philadelphia

So I know this is slightly out of place on the xkcd forums, but my other favorite webcomic http://abstrusegoose.com/ doesn't have one, and I figure this is the board where I'll find the most fans. It's similar to xkcd with a lot of great math/science jokes. In today's comic, http://abstrusegoose.com...

Re: "Helping" Discussion

The ambulance panel confused me. I think it would've been better if that panel weren't there. The box in the bottom left slid right, and the box on top moved to the bottom left.

It would look less cramped too.

The same 'bear' we get 'bearing' from, I believe. Seems like it was probably a nautical expression at first, one ship telling another ship to follow the same bearing as them.

Edit: "I can hardly bare that guy" should also be 'bear'.

What is it with nerds and medievalism?

So this is one of those ideas that's been circulating at the back of my mind for quite some time now, but came up to the front at the meetup in Cambridge when I saw someone dressed in chainmail, and quite a few people with fake swords other medieval weapons among the sea of shirts with science jokes...

There were plenty of normals... lol, just have to shift your reference frame.

And I did spy a group of youngish looking kids with a basketball and wearing jerseys by a bench, probably thinking, "dang, we want to play ball, who are all these weirdos in our park?"

60 hours a week is hardly believable. I figure the earliest class of the day could be at 8AM, and possibly the latest a class would end would be 9PM. That's 13 possible hours of class each day. To average 60 hours a week would require the average student to have classes solid from 8AM to 9PM every d...

Philadelphia Area Attendees

I'm planning on heading up to Boston the day before via Chinatown bus. It's 6 hours total, stopping in New York for $30.

Who else is going from Philly? It would be nice to travel together.

I also think it's silly that Harry ends up naming his son after Snape. After that much history can he really all of a sudden like Snape? Snape spent his life protecting Harry and then died for him (rather, Lily). It seems fair. And "All was well" was a pretty terrible choice for the last ...

Chawmp is the noise when a velociraptor eats steak. Speaking of steak, they serve it in coffee shops here in China. Well... 'coffee bars' is what they're called in chinese. they try to pull off the hipster coffee shop feel. they don't. their salad dressing is mayonnaise. their salad is fruit salad. ...
