Re: [NO LYRICS ALLOWED]Instrumental Music Thread

An opportunity to tell people my vote for 'Best band no one's heard of!' Excellent. I think Gifts from Enola - Loyal Eyes Betrayed the Blind is one of the best albums I've ever heard, instrumental or otherwise. I'm just disappointed that there no were no references to a not gate as the ship from Asteroids.

Re: Perfect Moments In Music

Godspeed You Black Emperor's The Dead Flag Blues, at the 2:35 mark where the strings section slows down and the lyrics 'You grabbed my hand, and we fell into it, like a daydream, or a fever'... That song is the most devastating piece I have ever heard. Absolutely yes. That whole spoken intro sends ...

Re: "I just don't get it" Thread.

I think OK Computer and In the Aeroplane Over the Sea might be two of my least favorite albums of all time. It's really frustrating, too, because everyone talks about how magnificent they are, but I just absolutely abhor Thom Yorke's voice, and I found In the Aeroplane to be actually physically grat...

Re: "A Bunch of Rocks" Discussion

Easily one of my favorite comics ever. The thought that we exist simply because God had nothing better to do is certainly an interesting one. "The man in the black hat fled across the desert, and the rock-slinger followed." Also, I feel obligated to point out that this is the best post in ...

Wednesday, by my count...

It depends on who you ask. Number 500 is next Wenesday, but technically there was no comic 404, so the 500th comic will be Friday.

I sort of feel like an idiot for it, but I don't understand the alt text at all. Put a piece of each what in what now?

Randall, get out of my head.

I was watching the Olympics, and they had a cutaway wherein Morgan Freeman congratulated Michael Phelps for his accomplishments, and I publicly announced that when I made my millions, I would hire Morgan Freeman to narrate my life.

Re: C Program returning a string.

Thank you very much for the help. I misread the assignment. It was just a function that returned a string; you were right. I got it now.

C Program returning a string.

I'm supposed to make a program that takes some arguments, does some math on them, and returns a string. Is that possible? Right now my code looks like int main(int argc, char *argv[]) { /* Code to convert arguments to numbers goes here */ char *myString = calcBandwidth(intArray[0], intArray[1], intA...

Re: "Classic" Discussion

How do you not know Stairway to Heaven, man? It's a classic.

But as for the comic, I thought it was excellent. I really only listen to music from the 70s, and I've got to agree.

I don't know if this has been mentioned in the thread yet, but Aeris isn't the name in the original Japanese, it was an invention of Ted Woolsey , because the Japanese name, Arisu, was a Nipponizaton of the English name Alice, which is too ordinary a name to be used in something like Final Fantasy....

I can't be the only one who hated the plot-hole filled, angst parade that was Final Fantasy VII. The only thing upsetting about Aeris' death to me was the thought, "Great, now I have to listen to a spiky haired emo boy whine about this for the rest of the game." If you want a really movin...
