Re: Minimizing traffic on a server for a web app

How fresh does your data need to be? Are we talking minute fresh or second fresh or "as fresh as I can get it"? A solution that comes to mind is MOAR Apps. Specifically each app has a connection to the db and only knows how to return read_only data while using one connection string. It the...

Re: X-Com: UFO Defense / UFO: Enemy Unknown

Anybody have any ideas on what causes Panic ratings to rise? Obviously not accepting an Abduction mission makes it rise, but that can't be the only factor. I've gotten a TPK on a UFO Crash Site mission that didn't appear to cause any Panic, so I have to wonder if a downed UFO would be fine if it wa...

You cannot loot your fallen troops whether it's equipment or weapons. This is a thing. It sort of makes sense for certain abilities (like the ability to carry 2 grenades instead of one) but otherwise it's kind of silly.

Re: Persona 3 (and FES)

The easy way to handle this is to just register your persona before fusing.

Getting 100% completion in terms of persona's is actually not that difficult since it just requires a crap load of money and registered persona.

The hard part is getting max social links. That's very difficult.

From what I've seen the 1 base is a lot more complex than the several bases you have in original X-COM. Actually it's 4 soldiers that eventually upgrades to 6. As for turn one grenade kill, I don't think that sort of thing will happen. In original X-COM you deploy inside the Skyranger and it's only ...

Learn when to call it off and learn to be a money-grubbing miser. The first is important because dying often is the fastest way to losing (I myself am quite guilty of this). I don't mean by design. Your approach would definitely work. The problem is that you would have to build every single one of those segments. Even if you're using the ingame engine, it's still a lot of work and evidence from the ending kind of shows they ran out of resources to do anything like that.

Plan B is over the counter. That's the whole point. You can go to the pharmacy and just buy it. But the pharmacists are saying that the buyers are not allowed to have it due to not being old enough even though the cut-off is 17 years old. Unless you're arguing it should be o-t-c for everyone which.....

You can put a krogan on a ship and not have it go beserk. It's just that you have to have a pretty big ship.
