I thought this strip was so wonderfully drawn and shaded that it inspired me to finally register, just so I could share the 1920x1200 wallpaper that I made from the final panel. Those always bugged me for a lot of reasons.

Really, I think the perfect voting system is none at all. Five-stars is bad, like/dislike is worse. From the point of someone creating content, what does a four-star rating tell you? Nothing, really. It says, "There's some way I think this can be improved, but I'm not telling you. Na-na-na!&quo...

Boiling Liquid to Kill Bacteria

Why is it that boiling water (or any other liquid, for that matter) is said to kill the bacteria that reside in it? What is it about vaporization that kills germs? Perhaps it's not the vaporization, but the heat itself. In that case, couldn't you just heat the liquid to temperature X and get the sam...

If I really, really like a song, I'll rate it with four or five stars. Otherwise, I just won't bother.

Unfortunately, I only set these ratings when I first hear the song. So when sorting by rating, a lot of songs I don't listen to anymore will appear near the top of the list.
