Re: 1190: "Time"

I have no clue why you would post such a thing in the Time Thread. It may be relevant. It's what we were discussing. The star maps place this in the future, with one noticeable major clue: Antares is missing. Today it is a very large very old star already fusing through shells of heavier elements a...

Re: 1190: "Time"

More UV light getting in. Which would mean more sunburns. But the Sun only emits a minority of its energy in the UV spectrum, so it probably wouldn't contribute much to drying. I'm not suggesting any direct drying effect. I'm thinking more worldwide environmental lever. Or perhaps it's just the eve...

We'd probably lose the ozone layer completely if my astrophysics is up to date. What secondary effects would that have?

I'd not put it past Randall to have them connected; Antares is supposedly close enough for its supernova to have some effect, and it's a heck of a coincidence.

Re: 1190: "Time"

I have wondered from near the beginning if Time would have a bleak / unhappy climax. I was thinking of something more... post-apocalyptic maybe? This could be a more mundane and more powerful way to work toward that end. :-\

Snotfish!

yay, reference to the hagfish! "The marine hagfish can turn a five gallon bucket of seawater into a giant ball of snot in minutes".

It was the name of my workstation (Snotfish) for many years. Wonderful geeky hivemind.
