### Re: Determining Big O() runtime on execution of a matrix

the input size does increase as m^2 (grows quadratically? Is that the right word?) Actually, it grows linearly. OP answered his own question here: "the runtime still increases linearly with the increase of input size." Linear means O(n). Linear means O(n), but increasing linearly means O(...

### Re: "Twenty-ten" or "two thousand (and) ten"?

I generally avoid talking about the past 10 years since I prefer "twenty-#", but 2001 certainly wasn't "twenty-one", so "two thousand (and) one" it was. No, certainly it isn't "twenty-one", but consider "twenty-oh-one". For comparison, 1901 and 1001...

### "Twenty-ten" or "two thousand (and) ten"?

I pronounce it "twenty-ten", because that's how it is pronounced for other centuries. I even go so far as to pronounce 2009 as "twenty-oh-nine", which sounds really strange to others, but the same argument can be applied: 1909, for example, is "nineteen-oh-nine". I thin...

### Re: Kick-Ass [Spoilers]

I saw it today, and I thought it was pretty good. I hadn't read the source material beforehand, but I read it when I came home. To be honest I think the comic is not very good. The movie fortunately strayed a lot, and I think the changes were mostly for the better. However the one thing I liked bett...

### Re: Stargate: Universe

It was my understanding that a gate had to be near enough to a planet to use it as a point of origin in the address in order to function so how can they gate from the ship out in space like that? The ship knows where it is and so it knows what point of origin to use, and it can therefore dial the S...

The first chess software I used was Sargon II. It had 8 levels of difficulty and each level would result in the computer taking significantly more time to move. I'm pretty sure Sargon II thinks more moves ahead on its higher levels of difficulty, and always picks the best move it comes up with.
