Re: 1990: "Driving Cars"

Nearly all traffic is caused either by poor human driving habits, or by accidents. We could handle 10 times the number of cars if they were driven by computer systems. This isn't entirely true, there is an intrinsic limit to how many cars can pass through any given cross-section of the road network...

Re: 1990: "Driving Cars"

If you're hoping to switch over to full auto any time soon, you'll likely be very disappointed. If I see it in my lifetime I'll be surprised. If it never comes, I wouldn't be surprised. I believe what you're describing is a utopian experience requiring complete and total connectivity between cars, ...

Re: 1990: "Driving Cars"

Humans are in fact outstanding at driving - so good, that we've become very overconfident, which is the real cause of most human error behind the wheel (drinking/texting and driving, for example.) I very strongly disagree with this. Humans are absolutely atrocious drivers. We forget a huge amount o...

Dang! Just read the discussions, and yea...seems I killed a shot at winning:(

Lorenz was planning to change over to Lataro, and as I said: I was just starting to suspect him as well for the sudden absence. While the wine and such is very normal for him, his disappearance was very odd.

Town made this too easy this game. :P Good job getting the townies to turn against themselves yet again, my spawn! Indeed. With so little for town to go on, it made it very easy for us to target each other. I kinda like the idea of no roles, and/or changing scum....but something else needs to be gi...

EBWOP If you unvote now though, and refrain from voting, I'll go ahead an unvote as well. However, this will just put us back at square one. I still wouldn't trust you, and you wouldn't trust me, because unvoting would still be a scum move as well to try and gain some town points. NTM if mpolo come...

Re: The Thing [Micro] - Day 2 - Confusion Reigns Supreme

Well, being second I really have no choice. If I vote mpolo and he's town, Lorenz can switch and win. If he's scum, he's just going to vote me anyways. OTOH if I vote Lorenz, it's up to mpolo. If mpolo is scum, he wins. If not though, at least we have a 50/50. So, the only one with a possible chance...

... The thing about the 53% chance of winning for town is that that only applies to the two (who don't know who they are yet) who survive unconverted into day two. Re: The Thing [Micro]

It's an interesting setup -- we as town essentially get two chances to kill the Thing, but a different person is the Thing each time. Things that avoid the lynch get a win. Unlike most games, anyone who is lynched loses the game. As Lorenz says, scum is going to be looking for a wagon, and would pr...

It would be nice if you could set up a direct "race" between the photons and the neutrinos, for hidden errors would be much less likely. But part of the reason why these results are so difficult to believe is that we have done just this (or, rather, not so much "done" as luckily...

Current word is still Holiday 2011, and don't expect that to change any time soon. Typical RD announcement for an MMO is only 1 month out, with some all the way down to just 2 weeks out.
