Re: Show us your articles! Or what's your Erdos number?

Uhg... now I have to read all these papers... as if my "papers to read" directory weren't big enough... On a related note, I have (at least) 3 professors with Erdös numbers of 2... I really think it's hard to have an Erdös number higher than 3 if you do really any serious modern discrete r...

Re: "Redwall" discussion

I had a bunch of friends who read Redwall as a kid. They told me it was great.

I considered reading the series... then I decided to read the Hobbit for the 5th, ad 6th and 7th and... time.

I think I made a good choice: I know it's going to be the same plot ahead of time; and it is well written.

Re: Discussion about Your Mom

It seems whenever something that I've avoided for a while comes up, Randall writes a comic about it...

Perhaps we nerds all work on the same time schedule... So that's how Newton and Leibniz managed to do it...

Re: "Effect an Effect" discussion

I'd bet that you could just about put any two letters and a period in place of e.g. (u.a. using 'd.e.' for 'demonstrative example' or 'u.a.' for 'uncommon abbreviation') and the average reader would get the intent by context. ... or at least the average xkcd reader ;) QX. Quote for Exuberance? Also...

Re: "Effect an Effect" discussion

As the average IQ of the participants approaches infinity, the average number of posts before invoking Godwin's Law approaches 50. I have a wonderful proof of this, but it is too large to fit in this forum. Have you tried changing the font to a smaller fermat? *dives for cover from the inevitable r...

Re: "Effect an Effect" discussion

28 posts and no Godwin's Law? Shame on you, XKCD forans. As the average IQ of the participants approaches infinity, the average number of posts before invoking Godwin's Law approaches 50. I have a wonderful proof of this, but it is too large to fit in this forum. On another note, doesn't the phrase...

Re: POST HERE FIRST - INTRO THREAD THE THIRD

Hello. Cory, Applied Math Major at Illinois Tech. Um... basically not too much needs to be said, I'm a nerd (obviously), and have some semblance of social skills (GASP!)... I've read the comic for a while, but haven't posted. Anyway, yeah. Cheers! Optimism is the Opiate of the masses! A healthy atmo...
