Solving a Matrix with Bounded Unknowns

Hello everyone - I've a problem I was hoping you may be able to help me with. It's been a while since I've studied maths at uni, so sorry if it's a dumb question. I have some equations (6) and some unknowns (10) I'd like to solve for. I know the bounds of the unknowns (greater than zero, but less th...

Re: Bigsim's progress/advice thread

Thanks for the reply, psyck0. I've heard this Starting Strength routine bandied about a little before - I might look into it further. I'm joining that gym next week, too, so that should be interesting. Make sure to eat enough! You can starve yourself for cardio and run till you collapse, but you won...

Bigsim's progress/advice thread

Hey guys! So I haven't historically been a frequent forumer, but I'm keen to share my progress and get some general thoughts/advice/whatever - anything will be appreciated. So I've been kind of a marginally overweight guy. For a pretty significant time, and up until a few months ago I've been pretty...

Reparameterising ODEs

Hi everyone, I'm studying symmetry analysis at the moment at uni, and we're looking at the method of canonical coordinates. I'm following an example in the notes, and I'm good up until it says "writing the ODE in terms of the new parameters...", but I can't for the life of me see how they ...

Re: Proficiency with LaTeX

Quick question: is there a preferred font that people use when typesetting in LaTeX? From what I've read, Computer Modern isn't looked upon with very high regard, so what? Times? Palatino?

Re: What is in Your Clipboard?

Also, Valor, Meneu and Caselles (2001) propose that heat requirement is not linear with temperature, which means that difference in heating that is needed from 17 to 18 degrees Celsius is not the same as the difference in heating needed from 1 to 2 degrees, for example.

How boring.

Re: POST HERE FIRST - INTRO THREAD THE THIRD

Hi everyone!

I'm bigsim, I'm 21 and I'm a BMath(Hons) student at UOW in Australia. I enjoy video gaming, playing guitar, and long walks on the beach. I'm thinking this might be the start of a beautiful relationship :)
