Re: [SAFESPACE] LGBTIQQA Thread - Queer Support!

I'm glad they finally made the decision. It's been in the works for a while but it's nice to know they have settled on one thing.

There are pros and cons to this. I think it's a step in the right direction.

Re: [SAFESPACE] LGBTIQQA Thread - Queer Support!

When you say pride, do you mean the pride parade? The "festival"? From when I was in SF, I can say that you should totally go to the Trans march on the friday. It was fantastic (in 2010) and since trans people are still actually trying to get rights like housing and not being killed, the m...

You could also consider going into the more theoretical side of it. There's a lot to CS that isn't just programming, and in fact has little or nothing to do with it. From a "Do the learnings because learning is fun" perspective, yeah totally go theory! It's awesome to learn about algorith...

I hate buying extras of games.
Even if it's "worth" getting this latest bundle for Lone survivor (like the only new game in the latest bundle) I still hate having to get all these other games again.

Re: The radical idea that women are people

I don't think it's unreasonable to ask friends to not wear strong scents, nor is it wrong to have scent free zones (where artificial smells are specifically disallowed). But, to expect others to always do it is a bit much.

I think I agree with people?

Re: The radical idea that women are people

As a trans woman, the rigid gender binary, the heavily policed gender expression and the oppositional sexism that these both are derived from are a major problem for me. It's difficult to exist in a world where my existence is considered outside the strict rules of how people should look. I say this...

If someone is "gaming" the system: Remember that just because it's easy to change your gender, doesn't mean that doing illegal things stops being illegal. Scholarships for women aren't handed to all women, and if there's a problem the board can deal with it. Sports teams are segregated bas...
