Re: Gaming fleeting thoughts

I think my favorite thing in HOI 4 is, in the quotes at the loading screen, there was a Herman Goering quote that said something along the lines of our enemies will never reach this point, but if they do, my name is Meyer. And they attributed it to Herman Meyer.

Re: Overwatch

I've played a few games with Ana now, I think it'll take a while to master the character. Trying to snipe one's own team mates, not as easy as you'd think. Yeah, I was trying her in ai just to see what she does. But, because it was ai I never got a good read on whether her healing was really powerf...

Re: Overwatch

I swear the BM is getting worse. Someone wins a game, they gloat about how "ez" it was in chat. Someone loses a game, they blame their team, or hurl insults at the winners for using a particular tactic. It's almost every game now. I usually block and squelch these people as soon as someth...

I pretty much only play Quick Play anymore because of that. I didn't even finish the qualifiers for Competitive. Re: Overwatch

It's always questionable whether you need a Hanzo.

Though, played a game against two widows today where I had to hook the enemy team out of their base so we could kill them. They were that bad. Just, how you stay double widow when you're getting wrecked, I don't know.

I find this a wholly appropriate response and a major design flaw on their part. You gave us a dog companion; you had to know that 90% of the game is now dress the dog up cute simulator.

Re: Gaming fleeting thoughts

Assassin's Creed Black Flag might be a fun pirate game if they ever let you get to the pirate game instead of their shitty tutorial wall missions and incomprehensibly bad combat mechanics. Need to counter guy, okay I have to hold e. Doesn't do a damn thing. If your quick time events don't even work,...

Joined a game. Team mates had already picked 2 Widowmakers, Hanzo, Tracer, and Genji. On Hanamura attack. Left a game. Yep, at this point I'm completely okay with them giving large bonus xp for tanks, lucio, mercy, and the smattering of consistent damage dealers just so people will stop picking hig...

I don't even think Mei's ice wall can reach that high, honestly. I've only ever seen Widow, Hanzo, Genji, and Pharah up there. Lucio might be able to do it if you're really careful about your wall riding, though I don't know what you really gain by going up there as Lucio anyway. Maybe better Los h...

Also, something I'd really like to see is better categorization of heroes. So, things like dps, specialist, healing, builder, defense, tank, sniper, useless hanzo, etc... That way people stop thinking that Tracer and Gengi are going to cut it for dps, because they're far more situational specialist ...

You can always see the distribution settle on something very quickly after a reset. I think this is their target distribution. It's a similar curve to their other games -- Starcraft 2 , Heroes . I don't know why they didn't go with their Hearthstone distribution since they both use ranks. Did I cal...

Quite apart from costing games, this also just isn't very fun. They call it "tilt". Your performance will be worse due to frustration at the game. It's not my performance. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that. I mean, well, I'm not a pro, I no doubt make plenty of mistakes. But I'm ...

That's why I end up playing junkrat nearly every god damn game. Honestly, I would just like to see objective time as a factor for rank, adjusted for hero played or something. Then at the very least, you'd be rewarded for doing what your main goal is. But I'd really like to know why the team averages on both sides keep being below my rank. Because it's starting t...

I also would take back my previous praises. Every single game today has been a stomp one way or the other. I'd say once I got through the placement matches it settled down to less stompy and closer games. I also think it does a far better job of matching people of the same quality together than quickplay does. I'm not always topping the team and getting gold medals every freaking game.

Re: Overwatch

I've not played Roadhog much, but my understanding is that most of the time the hook-shotgun-melee combo should usually instantly kill anyone with less than 200 health - the melee is often unnecessary at lower health levels. There is some variance on weapon damage and it can headshot. 250, and even...

Yeah, widow's ult basically requires a team that can capitalize on it. Hanzo on the other hand, I wish they'd re-figure him so people would stop playing him in a way no archer would ever work. Re: Overwatch

McCree dominated 1v1 close quarter fights, against *everyone* - Genji has the advantage if he can reflect the stun, but that's not reliable (even if you have deflect up, you're still doomed if the grenade isn't aimed straight at you). Now he can't kill Reinhardt and Roadhog with two fan-the-hammers...

Zarya is actually pretty good, but also quite hard to understand at first. First, her role: She's an off-tank. If you have two Zaryas, they can collectively assume the role of main tank, but ideally you want a reinhardt or roadhog as main. There also needs to be at least one healer, but two is bett...

Re: Overwatch

To me, that's seemed like a fairly standard early-MMR thing. It's always settled down at ~50% of games won, but in the initial "learning" phases, the pendulum swings hard and then has to overcorrect while it's trying to settle down to your final MMR. After about two such oscillations (too...
