Re: 0922: "Fight Club"

What about that move has not aged well? I mean, the whole point of the thing (to me) seems to be illustrating the mindset that allows for the creation of a cult of personality/fascist movement for today's crowds who think that they're too smart for that sort of thing, and that doesn't seem anything ...

Re: A Realization

Wasn't there this one signal from deep space we received that was supposed to be hypothesized as being of intelligent origin? I remember the letters "Om" being in there somewhere. It was a complete one off, and I am certainly not saying it necessarily was an alien intelligence, I just was ...

Re: Rango

Here was a first timer for me: because I had just seen that movie the day before seeing this one, when the reference to Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas happens, I thought it might well have been the funniest thing I have ever seen in a theater so I laughed long after everyone else who got it (i.e., n...

Re: cycling

Isn't it bad for muscular development to exercise strenuously for multiple days in a row? Well, at least I've been told repeatedly that you should alternate your days of exercise. Just saying, bike trip sounds like a bad idea considering that.

Re: Recommend a poem or poet

I hate to recommend such a one hit wonder, but the Antigonish creeps me out very effectively for how simple it is:

Yesterday upon the stair
I met a man who wasn't there.
He wasn't there again today
I wish that man would go away.

Almost makes me want to make a song for it.

Re: more Christian Comic Books

Do you only want overtly, directly Christian and espousing Christian values, or would you be open to stuff that discusses christian values or is christian only in its symbolism?

Re: Skipping aka Dumpster Diving

In a fundamentals of oral communication class this last semester there was a lady who distributed donut balls before her speech. By the end of her speech, she let us know that the food we had just eaten was procurred through skipping. One woman actually vomited right on the floor (which luckily was ...

Re: Daria to be released on DVD

Admittedly I never saw the series when it originally aired, but at no point did the music get on my nerves while watching it a couple weeks ago so I imagine it should not be a problem.

Re: Brian Jacques has died... So let's talk about Redwall

Redwall will always be a painful memory for me because it was my only experience with fan fiction, which I am suitably embarrassed by. Basically I wrote a long unreadable story where there was a distant army of rats under a rat named "Nightfang" (which I found out I had unconsciously stol...

Re: So You Think You Can Dance (really now...)

My philosophy is "if you can move and enjoy yourself, you can dance. If it's not in time to music, rhythmic, or whatever, well, sucks to be the people looking at you."

Consequently I don't watch shows like this, but I do gyrate like an idiot a lot.
