Re: Sample (#780) discussion

There's one song I've heard a few times recently that has a "ping............ping.............ping" exactly like the sound my car makes when the door is open and the car is running. Freaks me out EVERY time, nothing like driving down the highway and suddenly thinking one of the doors has r...

The only thing I see missing is a switch that is opened or closed instantaneously at t=0.

I especially like the ground, how deep is not too deep?

Re: "Semicontrolled Demolition" Discussion

There was a second gunman on the grassy knoll, but he missed. Congrats, you actually got me to laugh as hard as the actual comic. Speaking of the the comic, I always found conspiracy theorist rather silly. They'd rather believe that their country is so infallible, that it's more likely that their g...

I must say, I'm a little disappointed. You've missed the most obvious of jokes!

Why is there no line for Luke and his hand parting ways?

Re: "Bag Check" Discussion

I knew I couldn't have been the only person to think of this, but probably more than most people :P It seems to me I could take a large laptop (17 inch), and reconfigure it to be genuinely lethal weapon carrier. Take an extended battery and remove all but 1 cell, and fill the space with explosives. ...

I chuckled at that, then burst out laughing at the "YES!"

Staples guns are incredible, and I am intrigued by this "Staple Hammer"

* Also, I can't confirm this, but apparently filling up in the early morning is better than later due to thermal expansion; you allegedly get more fuel when it is cooler (perhaps some of the physics/chemistry geeks here can confirm if this makes a real difference). The pumps are actually supposed t...

Re: "Making Hash Browns" Discussion

One thing everyone seems to be forgetting is that tennis rackets generally have plastic stings. So either the strings will melt and fall onto the batter(?), or the potato will stretch and separate the strings for the ring. Either way you end up with liquid plastic burns, or a potato in flaming neon ...

Re: Restraining order

I always thought if you had two people get a restraining order against you they could do some kind of pincer attack on you, crushing you with a force field of the law. I think you'd need many people, you'd probably get forced to the sides, and three may force you to be pushed up or down... Hmm, gen...

Re: "Nightmares" Discussion

I wish I could have cool dreams but mine are usually pretty boring, or can't remember them at all. I used to try to force a dream (or dreamt I was forcing a dream) to happen for that night. I'd fall asleep, or just before falling asleep, I'd try to make a dream I thought would cool, I'd get started,...

Wow there sure are a lot more variants than I expected, I guess it's just like a giant game of telephone. Wow, so many "he read my mind posts" and unfortunately I'm one of them I know this feeling exactly, although I am lucky in the sense we are only 3 hours by bus apart. And sometimes a 2 am inter province trip is necessary, first time we met up together after university started we decided at...

Wow, I love it when XKCD does this. I can relate, except it wasn't with OS installing, it was trying to get my DS flash cartridge to save properly. Within several hours of attempts it went from not saving properly, to booting to the gameboy advanced part of the firmware, to not booting the firmware ...
