Re: Doctor Whom

Some other things 1. The Master being cured of his condition hasn't helped him much. Or perhaps the improvement has been slow. 2. This whole adventure took place because TD wanted to test Missy. He is kind of an arsehole really or at least a tremendous narcissist. He has basically doomed Nardole and...

Just watched it. Very nice sci-fi story. Good conclusion to a poor season. Various thoughts: I hope Bill comes back. Good character. Ended like series 9, with two girls off for adventures... I expect Missy will be back. If the Doctor is on Antarctica then this is probably the events of "The Ten...

Re: Doctor Whom

Yeah okay, World Enough and Time was a decent set-up for a finale. Some points: * Missy seems to have gone full Deadpool. * Bill was shot while TD was monologuing. * Missy doesn't remember this and it will be interesting to get an explanation on why, but we probably won't get one. * Saxon survived t...

Michael Caine says he's got a great idea, at the end of The Italian Job..? (Ok, so it then goes into the scenery-porn and musical outro of the credits, not a post-credits stinger, but this was already quite a sophisticated ending for a 1960s British crime-caper romp... :P) Yeah but I am talking abo...

Crucial final frames

There are a few frames, maybe a quarter of a second, at the end of BvS where flecks of dirt rose off Kal-El's coffin. My wife missed it and argued with me that I was imagining it but the electric internet tells me I wasn't. There are similarly a few frames at the end of X-men: The last stand in whic...

Re: X-Men: Future Days of Past

I have read there is a Rogue Cut in which she takes over from Kitty in the task of holding Wolverine in the past.

In the theatrical release she only appears for a few seconds.

Did Rogue do anything useful through the entire series? Like attack a villain or protect someone or anything?

Re: Doctor Whom

Introduction episodes are often a bit awkward. I suspect that the title of the season opener, "The Pilot", is a winking reference to the fact that they are looking to soft-reboot the series. The mystery of Gallifrey has gone and a new maguffin is required. I don't mind Billy, I dare say sh...

Re: Star Wars Episode VIII naming contest

The structure of the original trilogy was very much determined by the fact that when they were making the first movie, they weren't sure it was going to be a trilogy. It is pretty self-contained, with an opening, a conflict, and a win. Having decided to proceed with the trilogy, they then needed to ...

Can't really say much without spoilers but ... it's good. Even setting aside the Star Wars aspect, it is an exciting and moving combat story.

Spoiler:

I am a big Alan Moore fan and quite like The Killing Joke, otherwise I would probably not bother going to see an animated Batman movie at the cinema. To my mind, the film is driven more by revenge and personal loyalty than it is by pure ideals. There are three separate but intertwined cases of revenge for family deaths.
