Re: "Movie Narrative Charts" Discussion

Such an amazing comic, I love it.

I'm gonna go watch Primer 100 more times.

Re: Chemistry Demonstrations

My AP Chem class is also doing demonstrations for the last two weeks (though these will be graded). My plan was to make a ferrofluid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJGBy_yygaQ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferrofluid Unfortunately, it came out very messy and not very pretty. And while it is magnetic...

Re: Best Way To Make A Homemade Battery?

Get rid of the magnesium chloride. It is going to make the voltage more stable, but lower. What you want is power, not stability. You migth actually push it a bit the other way using EDTA as I sugested it the third post. It doesn't make that much of a difference but should be worth it. There is rea...

Re: Best Way To Make A Homemade Battery?

Okay, well we decided to use Silver and Magnesium. We had silver solder (Google tells us it's probably only about 40% silver :/ ), and Magnesium ribbon. We made solutions using Magnesium Chloride and... Silver Nitrate I think. Each solution is 1 molar (which means the Mg solution is 500 mL while the...

I might be ridiculously behind on this one, nor have I read the entire thread, but I just discovered Neutral Milk Hotel and I'm freakin' IN LOVE with this group. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lcgyKo7vbm4 just cd with a song, In an Aeroplane Over the Sea" - title track of one album. SINGING SA...

Best Way To Make A Homemade Battery?

Here's the deal. In my high school AP chemistry class, we're doing our final lab. The lab has no instructions and no conclusion questions. This is what's given to us: Goal: To build a battery. Ideally your battery should be set up to operate a device (light bulb, CPU fan, LED, anything else). Be sur...

No results found for "anything that cannot be found on google". Damn, I was sure that google would find something! Great comic! Actually, now that you said that, the only result is this thread. However, replacing the word "anything" with "something" or "everything...

I'm also logging in to say that this comic was brilliant.

This summer I took a course in Mathematical Logic, and I feel good knowing that I wouldn't get the joke if I read this a couple of months ago.

It makes me feel smarter.

What's a marmot?

I think it's a mammal. I'm imagining some sort of beaver-looking creature, maybe more towards the look of a prairie dog.

I'll go look it up on Wikipedia.

Re: XKCD In the New York Times

Reading news articles in the categories of "Technology", "Science", or in this case "Business" make me laugh or cringe from how they act like they're writing to six-year-olds. And I really didn't like how the writer explained what happened in a couple of the comics, ins...

Re: Telnet & Vista

It's not installed by default, here's how you do it: Control Panel -> Programs and Features -> 'Turn Windows Features on or Off', select Telnet Client, click ok. You should then be able to use it from cmd.exe, I believe (using the 'telnet' command). Thank you so much! I'd assumed it was impossible ...

I've never heard of Beirut, but I do like folk-rock.

Some bands you might want to check out include Bright Eyes, Sufjan Stevens, and The Decemberists.

Re: Lg Chocolate (VX 8550) Games

I have a Voyager, and it's not as easy as just downloading phone games and putting them in the right directory... As it stands, the only way to get a phone game on a Voyager is to download a flash game and use Bitpim to replace the tip calculator with the flash game. So you can only have one game at...

I know a couple people who did (or do) Kumon, and they're all good at math so I guess it must work.

My mom wanted me to do it when I was in sixth grade, I declined but if I could go back I'd probably take it.

I haven't bought Rock Band yet, but it annoys me to no end when people talk about how Guitar Hero games are "fake", and that you should "learn to play the real guitar". I DO play the real guitar, and comparing it to Guitar Hero is like saying somebody who builds model cars should...
