Re: "TED Talk" Discussion

Why do i get the feeling some well-meaning furry convention is going to take this as a sort of challenge and send him an invite?

And why do i suddenly feel the urge to watch this possibility like a hawk?

So, is this a simulation of the universe minute by minute or is it just meant to run a simulation if the stones were read?

And can he ever, really, be done?

Thing is, this is going to make hilarity on the news in both the best and worst case scenarios. Worst case, of course, they manage to destroy the planet or cause massive destruction. I've already gone through the comedic possibilities there. But the best case scenario? The higgs boson and maybe even...

As a preface to what i'm about to say, i am well aware that it's been proven very unlikely, if not impossible, that something disastrous will form (micro black holes/strangelets/bureaucrats/etc). But, in the time we had before the world meets it's demise... what, exactly, would they say? I mean, wha...

If you want to talk about a science show being unscientific, watch Brainiac, which is a teenager's version of Bill Nye from britain. Their experiments make mythbusters look damned good.

I think the B factor deserves to be added to just about every probability equation we've made as a species, partially because i'm cynical and partly because it's an excellent disclaimer. Though i haven't read the book or whatever this equation is from, it reminded me of a quote by a friend about the...

Re: Burning of books?

Personally? I couldn't burn a book even if it was entirely devoted to reasons why I, specifically, was a horrible human being. I couldn't do it. The reason? Words have power. That's a remarkably true thing in this world, especially to me. I value books quite highly, because they have the essence of ...

Me, i'd say the best thing to do is blast kids TV show themes instead of the macarena. The Barney theme is the musical equivalent of a dirty bomb. Trick is to wear earplugs to avoid accidental exposure.
