Re: "Too Old For This Shit" Discussion

I'm thinking maybe Randall has gone and seen Proof recently....

Re: Internet Argument Discussion

There's actually a term for the easier-to-be-an-asshole-to-words-than-people phenomenon in the communications field - they call it "I-it communication" (as opposed to "I-you communication"). It's sort of a shorthand for the very human trait to discount others' humanity when they ...

Re: What Would Man-In-Hat Do?

Haha! Great memo! Did the infamous couple ever approach you about this? No, but that's all right. We've found another apartment (for only semi-related reasons, although if our landlady wants to think that her best tenants are moving out because of the neighbors I certainly won't dissuade her) and a...

Is it bad that I know that movie well enough to have a serious temptation to correct you on this line? :D

Re: XKCD: The Movie

Oh, and to the numerous people complimenting me on my avatar - thanks, I got it from someplace on LiveJournal. Remember the Disney version of Beauty and the Beast? Where Belle walks around reading all the time? That was me all through school. Used to drive my parents and teachers nuts. =)

Re: XKCD: The Movie

Christopher Walken = voice of Man-In-Hat would probably work best, since I agree you couldn't do xkcd as live-action. Too bad, though, because he has the perfect deadpan delivery for any surreal situation - the SNL "More Cowbell" sketch and the Fatboy Slim "Weapon of Choice" musi...

XKCD: The Movie

I'm sure this topic has been brought up before, and to be honest, I have no idea how you'd go about making a movie out of xkcd. However, I almost have to try, now, because this idea came up in conversation today and it's so perfect: Starring Christopher Walken as Man-In-Hat (No, I certainly don't ha...

Re: What Would Man-In-Hat Do?

I'm pretty sure man-in-hat would do something clever with the elliptical dish.... like record their act, and play it back to them via the dish, at an equally inconvenient hour. Such as when they have company over for dinner. You know, that's such a perfect idea, I almost wish I had an elliptical re...

Re: What Would Man-In-Hat Do?

Are you sure they even read the whole thing? I don't actually care if they read the whole thing or not - a few lines will be more than sufficient to get the point across. Mostly I was using satire to get their attention, and also as a way of saying "Look, this isn't my business but you're maki...

Re: What Would Man-In-Hat Do?

Though I wonder how it would have changed if you had reviewed it as a comedy. I actually thought about doing that. I'm not sure exactly why I chose to go the other way...I think it was because I wasn't feeling witty enough this morning. (Which might be due to a lack of sleep.) Thanks for the kind c...

What Would Man-In-Hat Do?

Last night, I found myself in the unenviable position of listening to the upstairs neighbors fight at two in the morning. Since I have a normal day job and have to be awake at 7:00 in the morning, this was rather annoying. However, it's the first time it had happened since they moved in a few months...

Trying to play nice with the rules...

I don't really have that much to say, since I'm not usually a huge forum-goer, but here goes. Name's Rose. From Alaska, most recently Juneau. Currently a twentysomething aspiring singer/dancer/actor artist, or receptionist, depending on my mood and the time of day. Addictions: Books, cats, instant-a...
