Oh and the timing of you bumping this thread couldn't be better, yesterday I rolled around and got enough points to win the 2011-2012 state series. I've basically been off the bike since Nationals, so it was very much a case of "to finish first, you must first finish.", and not really raci...

Re: Bike advice

For 150km a day, a proper bike fit is essential, as is time for your body to get used to it. I'd give it 3 months to get your base fitness up, then get a proper fit (not a cheap fit) - Specialized BG fit or Retul. Then keep training that, and adjust about 4 weeks before going overseas. Pay attention...

Womens specific frame geometries generally better accomodate the difference in arm/leg/torso length. Giant are all over it these days, as are Kona with the 'Lisa' variant of all their frames. I have but one rule about 'Best practice[s]': That if you use the phrase in a job interview I'm conducting, you will not get the job.
It's basically an arrogant way of saying "I do things this way, therefore you should too".

If you're going to organise it for MICF, you'll need to do so pretty quickly. People need notice of things and if you're planning on seeing shows, they tend to book out quick and suddenly.

If the date picked suits me, I'll tag along. If not, I won't, it's as simple as that :P

When training closer to peak events, Tabata intervals are included in the sets I'll do. Others types are just standard timed intervals, and pyramid intervals.

Tabatas as an all out, when done correctly, are a great way to ensure you come close to throwing up :P

Tabata intervals are a bit different than regular intervals. A standard set of Tabatas is a 4 minute workout. It consists of 20 seconds all-out, and 10 second rest, repeated 8 times. Make sure you do this on a long section of road with no traffic lights, or a nice long hill. Gearing is irrelevant, a...
