Re: INTRO THREAD THE THIRD

I find it really funny that binary is being used to verify humanity. If a computer every gain sentience this could be how they first learn to communicate. And to answer your binary question, yes, oh could you not. And no stealing my answer dancing fox:)

Re: An amusing picture I found in my sketchbook

Would it be okay with you if I had an artist friend of mine redraw this idea for my site?

Re: Comic Math Directory

Hey guys, I know someone out there has a favorite comic about math. You know that one you cut out and pasted onto your wall from Fox Trot or the like. It would really help me to hear your favorite comics about math. I've committed myself to finding every Calvin and Hobbes and Peanuts cartoon about m...

Re: Shamelss self promoting. Your Blogs and websites.

Sorry for the delay. Your comic is up there now, http://www.comicmath.com/comics.html The site is new (about a month old) so I've been still developing traffic, but its been increasing slowly but steadily. I've come up with the new attitude that I will personally invite 10 people a day to visit the ...

Re: Math on Scarcity of Resources

Phosphates are definitely an interesting possibility although they don't have the same ring to them as water or salt. My first major research project in middle school was on phosphorus actually. In related news, the project is moving along, I'm getting more of the script written and I'm using a new ...

Re: Math on Scarcity of Resources

I want to go with something that is easily recognizable for being neccisary for life. If I stuck with water than maybe they did not evolve on their current planet. What do you think about salt?

Re: Math on Scarcity of Resources

Most of this is more backstory than story, but I guess in my mind water is in limited supply in the universe. This is hardly scientific but i've only seen extraterrestrial planets with oceans on sci fi. I could change it to another substance like gold but then would need a reason why that substance ...

Re: Math on Scarcity of Resources

Hey Gorcee thanks again for the lead on what to look up. Its probably a cop-out to take my equations from Wikipedia rather than a technical journal, but I didn't want to have to pay for the full text of a journal article for this. Anyway, here's the backstory: The aliens, who are a very logic and ma...

Re: INTRO THREAD THE THIRD

I love when words conjure up great visual images. Thanks for that Fighting Lettuce. I'm Adam Levin. I'm a full-time tutor and a new business owner (Tutor Delphia which serves Philadelphia, PA, USA). I mainly tutor math but I don't have a math degree so I'm not on the same level as other people here,...

Comic Math Directory

Hey everyone, I've just created a new directory of math comics at ComicMath.com. I also have some cool math videos up there. The site will also be the home of the upcoming webcomic Zara vs the SAT which you can read about in the production blog . Right now, since the site is so new, I could really u...

In general, A) affordable, B) lightweight, C) Secure.

Choose two out of three of the above.

Somehow that seems like a metaphor for life.

Re: Math on Scarcity of Resources

Thanks! Sometimes its just knowing the right terms to google. The problem I am running into is that I am trying to right alien characters who are better at math than me. I am mere spec ed math teacher and tutor who is only comfortable teaching up to algebra 2: This forum looks like it will be a grea...

Math on Scarcity of Resources

I'm working on creating a comic where math loving aliens are discussing the fact that they are running out of resources on their planet. I'm looking for advanced equations, graphs and other charts from scarce resources on our planet to borrow for that purpose. I heard once that we've used up half th...

First off this is an amazing and touching comic. Thank you to those who shared their personal experiences with cancer. You guys have an amazingly positive attitude. I've seen and supported my grandmother and grandfather on these roads. My grandfather had lung cancer and was told he had a year max bu...
