There are lots of exploits for various mobile phones both over many vectors (GSM, bluetooth, web, Java etc) so mobile phone hacking is possible. See below for examples for ideas what is possible.... http://www.itp.net/561962-etisalats-blackberry-patch-designed-for-surveillance http://www.irongeek.co...

lets see... why not use a killer ethernet cable? Just googled it, that could definitely work. I'll look into it.. Just googled it too, quite possibly the dumbest idea I have ever seen. Re: brainstorming a home entertainment system configuration

For a work project I once got www.blackbox.com to make a custom switchbox with a manual knob for switching between many DB25 serial lines. Perhaps you could get them to make a box for switching many inputs to four HDMI/DVI/VGA outputs. A bit ghetto but cheaper than an electronic solution.

Re: Question about repairing headphones

Most headphones in my experience (of breaking them) tend to break near the jack. Generally one of the wires inside the cable snaps. I'd get a multimeter and test the continuity between the different conductors on the jack and where they come out on this circuit board. If you find one of them is inde...

What's your budget? I like the idea of manually switching with a DJ mixer but then you are limiting yourself to stereo sound and a maximum of two sound outputs simultaneously (live and monitor). Also, to me this seems a little ghetto. Most mid to high end AV amps support multiple sound zones which c...

Personally I'd lean towards a commercial CCTV product rather than fudging together a consumer video capture card with some open source software. It'd mean spending more money but you will then get hardware which has been designed for the task and bespoke software included. http://www.cctvsentry.com/...

I've *heard* from isp insiders [in europe] that quite often ISPs move certain traffic types from certain users onto what cisco lovingly refer to "Scavenger Class" networks. This gives your traffic a weighting lower than the standard best effort.

How are you testing just out of interest?

If there are no packets received it means that even DHCP has failed. No DNS servers will have even been found. DHCP can work without DNS, resulting in connections with a tiny number of packets coming back. Of course, if this is true, you can at least ping the router by its IP... Can you ping things...
