You say, "Nasty, evil creatures", but you were the one going after her ducklings!

Re: "Improvised" Discussion

Speaking of growing hair out, it seems Harrison Ford is one of the few males Randall has seen fit to grace with hair - the only other case I can think of right now is Black Hat Guy, as depicted in Journal 2. Significant? Risk Astley had hair too, when they Rickrolled him back in #351: http://xkcd.c...

Re: X Girls Y Cups Discussion

Let me be the first to point out that "Girls" is on the Y axis and "Cups" is on the X axis. Of course, it's not really a graph. Not that it matters, but rather for interest's sake: I think that is the x & y orientation used in arrays (rows/columns) and on graphics devices. I...

Re: "Paleontology" Discussion

For anyone who didn't know, "Jumping the ichthyosaur" is a play on the term "Jumping the shark" - a reference to the X Files that generally implies "the point at which things got seriously off track". I'm 27 years old, and it was only 2 months ago when I saw my first X ...

Re: Childhood misconceptions

I successfully misspelled the word "February" as "Febuary" (like it sounds) until first year undergrad without anyone ever noticing or correcting me. The only reason I realized I was spelling it wrong was that MS Word kept red-underlining it. Even then, I had to check it out in a...

I love how they use "you're IQ" instead of "your IQ" as they congratulate me on my intelligence.

And who do you want paying for? I know: lets force the bill on the lower-middle class who might have been able to afford a decent education for their child if not for the education cartel manipulating the legislature... No, I think that's a bad idea. Anyway, it wouldn't cost more. A professional wh...

Re: Improving the educational system

The problem is there's no competition. Abolish the public school system and let the market take care of it. Just for context, I'm a physics grad student, I grew up in Canada, and my teaching experience includes teaching first year university labs, tutorials, and resource centre. Now for opinions......

Re: INTRO THREAD THE THIRD

How exactly will they differentiate between which Scott? I personally suggest something along the lines of an epic death brawl involving assorted NERF products. Hmmm.... I'd intended the CDs to go to Little Scott and the guitar to go to Big Scott, but I kinda like your idea better. I thus will that...

Flarmology

Was checking out some of the links to comics that Randall likes (esp. Perry Bible Fellowship), and it made me think of a comic a friend of mine draws for a local music review paper here in Halifax (Flarmology). The comics have just recently been put online at http://flarmology.blogspot.com . It's no...

Who is "Kelly-Bootle"? Is that a real thing? It sounds like a joke, but sometimes reality is just weird enough that it can be funny just by "telling it as it is". :)

Promoting New Comic

Yo, Could I get someone's opinion on a question of "forum etiquette" here (esp. from a moderator)? I have a friend who does comics in a local independent paper, and he's recently started putting them on a webpage, and since he's not much of a computer user himself, I'm trying to help him g...

I'm the only Physicist in my lab who writes his analysis code in IDL, while everyone else uses Matlab. I once tried to see the bright side of the situation, and the best I could come up with was "If someone new comes to the lab, I would be able to help them learn IDL... So they could then be in...

True enough, but I think when 1 out of 2 of your quantities is zero, you can just as well write A.U. and be done with it.
