Re: Pinball Wizards and Witches

I've wanted a pinball machine in my house for as long as I can remember... I used to play at the arcade awhile back.

The Addams Family machine was really good, but The Twilight Zone machine looks amazing. Sadly I've never played it...

Re: uh, thats jacked up (disturbing books)

I read a book called Black Butterflies by John Shirley when I was in middle school and it was pretty messed up some of it creeped me out for a good long while. It's a collection of short stories, half of which are based in real life and about all kinds of of awful things happening. The other half ar...

Re: Opening Lines

No woman will ever satisfy me. I know that now, and I would never try to deny it. But this is actually ok, because I will never satisfy a woman either.

Not a classic by any means, but I thoroughly enjoyed the first chapter of Sex, Drugs, and Cocoapuffs by Chuck Klosterman...

FIDO

So I saw that this movie was mentioned briefly in the Zombie Movie forum, but having just watched it, (yes, I'm a little late) I feel it deserves a topic of its own... For those of you unfamiliar, it basically takes place in an idyllic 50's-esque Anytown, USA... Post-Zombie War. Things are more or l...

Re: Favorite Childhood Films (Merged:Movies that nerds loved)

Secret of NiMH which has been mentioned tons before. Also mentioned: My Neighbor Totoro, I saw it as a little kid then forgot about it for years and years until I went on a Miyazaki kick after Princess Mononoke came out. I came across Totoro and was just assailed with childhood memories, one of my a...

Re: Ultraviolet (UK Vampire Miniseries)

I saw the whole 6-episode run when they aired it some time ago on Fox I think. There was talk of an american adaptation... We're probably better off without it but I wish they continued the story. I really enjoyed it, I'd like to re-watch it as I don't remember all the plot points, but it was very g...

Re: Underrated games

I'd have to vote Vagrant Story for PS. Great story, pretty deep item forging system, and I thought great graphics for the time. The battle system was also pretty unique, a bit like a cross between Fallout and Parasite Eve (another underrated game.) Also, Otogi 1 & 2 for Xbox. Fantastic atmospher...

Re: Bad Movies You Love

My favorite bad horror movie of all time is "House." Absolutely HILARIOUS. Versus - hilarious japanese "horror" flick involving a forest where the dead come back to life, most ridiculous action scenes ever. And really, the epitome of bad/GREAT moviemaking... Troma anyone? Toxic A...

Re: Favorite non-English films

I agree with a lot of what everyone else posted so I bother listing those, but i think i've got at least one no one's mentioned... Gegen die Wand (Head-On) Really great german film, pretty intense. I know there's more but I can't think right now... Any stuff mentioned I'll probably try and catch soo...

Re: Crappier games being released?

Yeah, Baroque is a remake of a late 90's PS game, it never saw the light of day here in the states though. It seems like a pretty compelling game to me though. I do have to agree with the SNES argument though. Chrono Trigger remains one of my all-time favorite games, and there are also a slew of Jap...

Re: Recommend one artist

The Cat Empire, they're pretty immense in Australia but have been steadily gaining fans everywhere, as they should, they deserve it. They sold out several venues here in the US early last year, before their American debut album even dropped... Kinda latin/funk/ska/happygoodtimes music. Enjoy ;) http...

Re: Crappier games being released?

Good RPGs? Lately I've been on an Atlus kick... They're about on par with Square/Enix overseas, popularity-wise. Eventually they make their way here as limited editions which about 14 people know about. Shin Megami Tensei, Digital Devil Saga, Persona, all pretty great rpgs imo. What I think sets the...

Re: INTRO THREAD THE THIRD

Hey everybody. I'm Chris, 23, from Connecticut. I've been reading xkcd for awhile now and honestly don't remember how I got here in the first place, perhaps a floating barrel and the winds of chance...? My nerdery is probably not up to snuff compared to most of you, but I try to keep up as best I ca...
