Re: 1756: "I'm With Her"

So sad that smart people are backing her or Trump. We need more and better realistic choices, non-strategic voting, and to get rid of the electoral college. None of that will happen this election, but voting for a third-party candidate will provide federal funding for their party next cycle and cou...

Re: What-If 0074: "Soda Planet"

Also, claiming that birds are dinosaurs is a fun joke, and a good way to make people think, but it's starting to become a serious myth by now, and I hope that XKCD is not seriously going to propagate it. We already have enough misinformation going on in science without adding more. Here's some more...

Re: 1231: "Habitable Zone"

Maybe it really would be, too. Think about it. How are we to really know what a planet with life looks like from lightyears away? Send out a vast 1 mirror a lightyear away, aim a telescope at it (maybe leave a large enough marker on it so you know you are viewing the mirror instead of just space), ...

Heck, that's the standard trope for any runaway nuclear explosion: "Fly/drop/throw it into the ocean!"

Just make sure your plane has an auto-pilot. ;)

Or is being flown by Jack Bauer.

Re: 1118: "Microsoft"

It's like the old dilemma of the corrupt dictator versus the bumbling republic. (snip) I smell Godwin's law in the distance. One possibility -- when a single company dominates a technology which is important, split it into 2 to 7 companies that each get full rights to the intellectual property, pat...

Re: 0946: “Family Decals”

In Brazil these stickers are known as the "kidnapper's catalog".

On another note, it surprises me that nobody has mentioned the obviously missing third car: the one with only a single guy, and boatloads of money.
(Disclaimer: I'm happily married).
