Re: Exalted vs D&D

I suppose I simply don't take myself as seriously; it doesn't irk me at all. I find it much more amusing to fail while trying to look or add "cool" than to have it handed to you. Much better to watch a party member try to kick a door door and fail their strenght check than have it just giv...

Re: Exalted vs D&D

Edition 3 most DMs would put it under a Tumble check, perhaps with a DC of 20 or 25, depending. And I don't understand the "get it back". It's not like you expend points or Willpower to check something. It's simply a numeric value for how good your character is. You roll (chance) and add y...

Re: Signatures and Perception.

lol It's good to read this, my home forum (well my first forum I should say, the one I lost my internet virgnity/innocence too ;_;) didn't allow regular memebers to have an avatar, so Signatures what what I got used to looking at or recognizing. The graphical ones became kinda like a display for art...

@Gharbad I agree with what PictureSarah said, it'd be really interesting to hear what you think and your opinions. Re: Exalted vs D&D

Stunting kicks ass. You thought those hero points or whatever they're called are good? Stunting beats them. They don't cost happy magic points, they *give* happy magic points, while letting you do stuff like fight on a heard of horses or surf down an erupting volcano on your shield while writing a ...

Re: Your GPA in High School

We didn't do a GPA in HS, though my average coming out was 89% for my final year (a strong A in my system, 50% is a pass, 86% is an A) I was taking Calc, math, physics, chem, 2 french courses, choir, english, MUTH (Musical Theater)... I'm missing one... oh yeah, multimedia and design, so a smatterin...

Re: Is science worth the effort?

If it helps I got a D in Calc2 and a F in discreet mathematics (which I later retook and got a B). First year maths are killer courses, they're big, nasty, hard to pay attention too and (in my experience) made to make people double think what they are taking. If you love science, keep at it, it does...

Re: You know you have to transfer when...

UBC and McGill are both big, highly-ranked schools (see MaCleans you non-Canadians). Eh, Personally I didn't really like the idea of UBC, it's a little too buisness oriented =/. You could however, try telling your parents you need to travel and you think it would help you grow as an individual. *gri...

Plain Vs. Academic or Regular English?

I was hoping to gather opinions on this. I'm currently taking a technical writing course and my prof keeps emphazing the use of plain English, saying that companies are pushing plain English and that it's the way of communication. Even my friend's history prof asked her to stop using big words. Now,...

Re: Woman thread - Is it as good for you as it is for me?

Man I HAVE to go with thin frames.. so few frames look good on me >.< it really sucks, it takes me about a month to find a decent-looking pair. So thin, roundish and light-colours. Oh, as for transfering form contacts, my perscription is really light, so going from glasses to contacts isn't a proble...

hmm I used to be abook or abookworm (my email address) but I bloody tired of being asked what my gender is. Thus Silverwmoon was born (the w stands for white, I get asked that too >_>). You might see me on irc under Oddity though. And as far as I can tell I'm the only silverwmoon when you google it.

Re: Exalted vs D&D

Skip the low levels and miss out on all the hilarity that springs from under-equiped charaters with mad players driving them? What? lol I would strongly disagree that a Tolkien influence is a bad thing or that DnD is "Lame ass". I must admit I've not played Exalted (though I've read it's p...

Re: My life as a program.

Call me a girl, but how flexible will the code be? How will you handle errors (like trying to get multiple things done down to the minute but something else comes up?)? I'm intersted to see how you'd handle things like that in your code. Though I like the object-oriented approach especially for gett...

Re: Beginning in Computer Science

I'm glad to see someone mentioned hardware and circuit design. One thing I like about my program is that they've seperated it into Software engineers, Computer engineers, Computer Scienctists and combined degrees (like math or bio). The first are programers and software developpement people, the sec...

Erm I think you can do a general BSc, but we don't have to declare our major until about 3rd year... (at least at my uni, I think McGill is the same)

ouch >< I always get bad cramps =/ Oh and I wear my glasses most often, I do a lot of computer work so glasses tend to work better for me that way; I can take them off. However, I do look much better in contacts, but they're such a hassle; my eyes have a lot of protein in them so there's an extra wa...

Re: What exactly does walking do to cure cancer?

The various company promotions get them to give money to the cause while (hopefully) making more money through the publicity. It's really win-win for all parties involved. Agreed, especially the walk in circles ones. It's healthy. So for instance, a Walk for Cancer promotes a healthy lifestyle whil...

There are also other issues. What kind of person is the other guy? Will he turn controlling/violent when told that she wants an abortion? If so, and she does in fact want one, then DON'T TELL HIM ffs. Just do it and he'll never know, which is perfectly okay. Um.. is that really perfectly okay? I me...

Hello, *waves* Silver here.. eh, I'm a 20 year old female living in Canada.
