Found a small section of a roof that appears to be a fire. I say this because you die quickly with the fire animation when you stand there. No visuals, though.

Also, I don't think I posted this here. I did a talk at the London Ruby User Group. It's about the weird bits of ruby, and it's ~10 minutes. Here it is.

Any feedback welcome!

Re: Coding: Fleeting Thoughts

As a programmer who lives in central London, I can give you a pretty good idea of what you should expect? I'd expect a junior programmer to be on 25-30, mid level 35 - 45, senior 50+. All in £1000s. Wow, I'm a little surprised that salaries for programmers are so much lower in the UK than the US. P...

Re: Coding: Fleeting Thoughts

No, it's London. I'm thinking I'll try a few heuristics and see if they converge reasonably. There are some websites that seem to offer cost-of-living scaling factors. That's one data point I guess. I could also examine some salary statistics, maybe normalize the local distribution function and app...

Okay, let's make this a little easier: Once I have a Ruby script query the server and receive info from the table, how does that info go from the Ruby script to a webpage? That's the end goal: a webpage with a Javascript form that allows the end user to select one of the listings from the database,...

The fact that ruby assigns local variables whenever it sees an assignment to them, even if it's never run, is really disconcerting. 2.0.0p247 :001 > a NameError: undefined local variable or method `a' for main:Object from (irb):1 from /Users/felltir/.rvm/rubies/ruby-2.0.0-p247/bin/irb:13:in `<main>'...
