Re: 1706: "Genetic Testing"

Nah, otherkin are people who believe they are reincarnations of anything that is not human. Can be as fanciful as elves, but simply saying 'I have the soul of a tortoise' qualifies.

Buying a Tablet, Maybe

I think that tablets might not be the most liked computers on these boards, given the lack of ability to customize them. But I have an old iPad (kinda sorta taken from my mom) and an iPod Touch (old gift) that doesn't seem to like doing a lot of things anymore, and I am thinking of maybe getting som...

Reinstalling OS for Dual Boot Laptop

Hey all, for the new school year I have been debating reinstalling my OSes on my laptop, mostly because Windows now seems so sluggish it can't do anything. Also, I have discovered that it would be much better to have a a shared storage drive to hold my files, instead of having to search in the 'othe...

Re: Missing a Pretty Big Fundamental [ C / C++ / Java ]

Yeah, I figured Thesh was joking, though sometimes it's hard to tell when people are joking if you have no idea what the punchline is. Or the setup. (To this day, I still have no idea what the forum Religious Wars is actually supposed to be about .) And I guess I was asking about development environ...

Missing a Pretty Big Fundamental [ C / C++ / Java ]

Greeting coding types. I come seeking enlightment. Now, before people start yelling at me, I have looked at the "How Do I Learn About [n]?" thread and I understand the basics of code writing, but I can't really find the specific nugget of information I am looking for. Mainly, I have no ide...

Re: Need A New Comp, But Not Sure What Route To Take

2: That PSU only has 360w available on the 12v rail, you can use it, but you'd need a less demanding GPU, probably a radeon 7xxx series or gtx 6xx. Rumor is the gtx 660 is being released next month, and might be a better option. I would probably replace the PSU anyway due to it's noise problems(ele...

Re: Need A New Comp, But Not Sure What Route To Take

Nice list, though I have a couple of questions. First, why two hard drives? I know one is solid state which is faster for programs to run, but I still feel like it's doubling the budget there to just get a little over 100GB more space. Also, what would be saved there, as opposed to the normal drive?...

Need A New Comp, But Not Sure What Route To Take

Hey all. I've been lurking on these various forums for a while, debating making this thread asking for hardware device, but my desktop just forced my hand. I just got some sort of weird error that causes the computer to reboot almost as soon as I log on, even in SAFE MODE. Heck, I think the last tim...

Re: Looking for Advice: Getting a New Computer

I would gladly accept a second recommendation... if someone else would post in this thread. :P In Prebuilts, you some times have a bunch of slots, such as USB, on the FRONT. What do you need ot buy to get that in a build-your-own? ...and sometimes, on this comp, if I have too MANY USB devices attach...

Re: Looking for Advice: Getting a New Computer

Hmm, I see you are suggesting the 'build it yourself' route. And that is remarkably cheaper than my current budget. Hate that I would have to pay 100$ dollars to get Windows 7, but I guess that's just what I would have to do ANYWAY. Guess it just feels like a deal when you don't SEE the expense. [Th...

Looking for Advice: Getting a New Computer

I made a post here a while ago, but I kind of forgot about it... anyway, my situation has changed slightly from it anyway, where I am no longer looking for upgrades, but an outright replacement of my current computer, since the only thing I could upgrade TO are obsolete nowadays. And I promise to pa...

Re: Questions From Someone New To This Forum

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that: Yeah, I have a malware problem*. I also have a 'legitimate program is no longer working as intended' problem**. Even if I didn't do anything else, I have wanted to nuke it from orbit anyway . But for WoW, I get incredibly horrid framerates with any sort of "ab...

Questions From Someone New To This Forum

Um, hi. Anyway, I have been thinking of updating/outright REPLACING my computer for a while. The main reason is that I really like to play WoW, but for a long time I would get frequent freezes while playing it. And recently, I have seen it crash on it's own, frequently, due to a lack of memory. Pret...

Re: "Friends" Discussion

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned, since I could only get through the first 3 pages, but it seems to me that the 'jerk' at the end of the comic isn't actually that jerk-like. Seems to me like the kind to never gonna give her up, never gonna let her down, never gonna run around and desert her, ...

Re: "Restraining order" Discussion

The talk of the court case reminds me of an amusing story involving my high school physics professor. He was given a traffic ticket for speeding in an intersection, when the asphalt was slick with recent rain and he was taking a left turn. He claimed that was physically impossible, and in court, he ...
