Re: What-If 129: "Black Hole Moon"

Re: Why does cesium make these crystals?

It only seems like a silly question now that you know the answer. Never be afraid to ask. You had gone to the trouble of thinking about what you knew about atomic orbitals and bonding to a structure and realised that you could not see how the structure could be explained. Sounds like the making of a...

Re: Why does cesium make these crystals?

Those crystals are an example of dentrites. Many metals (and other materials crystallise in this way). Dentrites occur when the growth rate of a crystal is significantly faster in one of the growth directions of a crystal than the others. The orbital model of atoms is not that useful for describing ...

Some of the chemical methods mentioned above need a health warning. The Piranha mixture has a habit of exploding - treat it with extreme caution. Anything involving HF should be avoided at all costs. The RCA-1 techniques is a reliable way of removing organics. It was developed by RCA to remove organ...

Re: "Morning" Discussion

Like the song says:
"There's a hole in the sky, something evil's passing by"

I'm showing my age quoting this, but it seems apt.

Bon Scott, Buddy Holly, Phil Lynnot and Keith Moon. Given the Live fast, die young lifestyle that the media would have us believe that rock stars lead - There are surprisingly few early deaths in the rock'n'roll community. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------...
