Re: 1663: Garden

@FLUKILUKE, I'm getting a different GUID for each browser session. In Chrome, adding lights didn's seem to work. However, I now suddenly have three lights. But no tree anymore. The UI may just be slow... Until now, the maximum number of lights I've been able to get were three. I'm trying shining in ...

Re: 1663: Garden

A light went on in IE! (Edge and chrome are still showing the spinning tree...) *edit* And in Edge now too! But in Edge I cannod add or remove lamps. In IE and I can add lights and remove lights. In both IE and Edge I can edit the ligths: change direction and beam widht, and hue. The ground is the s...

You should always start with analyzing whether the time you spend on your analysis would be bigger than the expected maximum difference in time spent on strategy A or B.

Re: Gun Control

But like I said before, it depends on what you value most. Now I absolutely hate when this phrase is used. It creates a false dichotomy of freedom and death vs safety and alive; It reads a lot like "you don't care if children die" and I do care but I don't believe that the methods that ar...

Re: Gun Control

So. If I let you go hunt or shoot target, I'll be increasing the number of people not being careful with their guns and i'd be making it easier for criminals and lunatics to acquire guns. That's why I'd rather not make it easier for common people to have guns. The vast majority of firearms used by ...

Re: Gun Control

Still, If a the existence of a sport (or recreational activity) creates a risk to people not participating , I'm not easily convinced to allow this activity. Noone is at risk when I go target shooting. Nor when I (hypothetically) go hunting. At least no more so than someone is at risk on a football...

Re: Gun Control

Hunting is luxury. A sport. If I can preserve ANY life by abolishing ANY sport, I will. So you are in favour of the abolition of boxing, rugby, motor racing and sailing, then? The "if it saves one life" argument really doesn't lend itself to absolutes. You are right: I overstressed the wo...

Re: Gun Control

Accidents are a far greater concern. A lot of people do behave recklessly and instilling a less carefree attitude about gun handling would help to reduce the amount of accidental deaths and injuries. We are taught as kids to not run with scissors; we should have the same common sense ideas for ever...

Re: Gun Control

1) Your experience with firearms. Virtually none. 2) Your opinion on Gun Control laws, national, state whatever. I do not mind guns being prohibited. Like it is here in the Netherlands. Most people over here are amazed at the gun laws you have over there. Why are you willing to accept shootings at ...

Genoeg Nederlandse mensen hier.

En ook Nederlanders met een taal-tic. (Zo kan ik mij zelf bijvoorbeeld ontzettend ergeren aan incorrect spatiegebruik.)

Re: My number is bigger!

I'm trying to post a program which gives my number, but it took a really long time and when I decide to post a the partial code I had, the forum system said it was invalid, my guess is because it was too long. What should I do? split it up in two posts. furthermore, if the number needs that much co...

Re: My number is bigger!

*snip* Indeed you could. THink you could come up with a way of automating this process? :wink: I'm on it: function BigNumber(m, n) { if (m=0) return Conway(ArrayBuilder(n)); r=n; for (i=1; i<n; i++) r = BigNumber(m-1,r); return r; } function Answer(n) { return BigNumber(n,n) } The Answer might surp...

Re: My number is bigger!

I lost track. Can somebody rewrite the current biggest number in a (pseudo-code) computerprogram? e.g. function Ackermann(m, n) { if (m==0) return n + 1; if (n==0) return Ackermann(m - 1, 1); return Ackermann( m - 1, Ackermann(m, n - 1)); } and function Hyper(a, n, b) // n is the number of up arrows...

Re: My number is bigger!

Wouldn't something simple like this yield a bigger result?

public int f(int n)
{
return n^n
}

public int R(n, function fn)
{
if (n==0) return 1;
int x = fn(n);
for (i=1; i<n; i++) x = fn(x);
return x;
}

public int main()
{
return R(200,R(200, f));
}

No - it wouldn't. Never mind.
