Re: DIY Inline Hot Water Heater?

Because chances are it's the people who are kind enough to put you up in a place with free water. Maybe it's sh*tty that they don't offer a good hot water system, but really. If they don't have the money to spend on better water heating, it's not going to help any by overworking the system and runn...

Re: DIY Inline Hot Water Heater?

Are you charged for water? If not the obvious solution is to just leave the fucking thing running, or at a minimum turn it on at all times while you're home. That's a REALLY SHIT hot water distribution system, and beyond the level of failitude I'd expect from any university (most places I've been h...

DIY Inline Hot Water Heater?

At my university, the hot water delivery system is pretty bad. For our set of apartment buildings, there's a single water facility building about half a block and across the street from mine. When water usage is high (during normal hours of the week), it gets hot fairly quickly. However, early morni...

Re: Favorite thing to put on ramen noodles

Take 1 or 2 egggs. After the noodles just start to soften (very shortly after they're put in the boiling water), crack the egg(s) into the water. I then normally break them up a bit so the end result is egg bits all throughout the noodles. A variation you can do is to use separate the noodles to for...

Disable Background Tab Video Autostart in Firefox 3

In Safari on the Mac, one can go somewhere like Youtube (but not only youtube), do a search, open a bunch of links into tabs, and then go through and view them one by one. Everything works fine. The videos only start when you get to it's particular tab. Firefox, on the other hand, immediately begins...

As an American, I find our general acceptance of fermented urine as a beverage embarrassing. We need a way to get Regular Joe to start drinking good stuff, both from the US and abroad, and College Guy to at least drink something that is worthy of the term beer.

Ok, so much has happened. I had posted this on the PA forums as well, and got a suggestion to try safe mode (with networking) to see what happens. Strangely enough, things seemed to do pretty damn well in that, so it would mostly rule out hardware failure. I then started to poke around more with the...

THIS is why I read XKCD religiously. A good deal of the comics are hilarious. Many make me think. Then ones like this are in a league above, evoking a range of emotions that a mere comic shouldn't be able to do. In a way, XKCD reminds me of Futurama. Funny, smart, but with episodes like "Jurass...

Ben Franklin was a smart guy. Forgive me if a thread such as this has come and gone, but search yielded nothing of the sort.
