### Re: 538 hats riddle

The key to solving this one is to see what's different from the usual type of hats question when some form of communication is ok. Here, the important thing is that ONLY ONE person needs to guess right to win, as long as everyone else passes. You're right that each individual person, when they choos...

### Re: MisterGC's PUZZLES

I don't think it has enough constraints; I got two solutions where the numbers in E, H and K could be swapped for those in G, I and F without anything being inconsistent.

Unless I missed something.

I find the first one to be slightly ambiguous

It's unlclear if the cloud that fulfils the 2 column clue continues to the left or the right of that column

I enjoyed the puzzle though.

Did anyone solve the regular crypto yajilin? Yeah, I did. I liked it - just the right level for me. I understood what you meant about the crypto being tacked-on rather than integral to the puzzle, but it didn't stop me enjoying it. With the regional one, I've worked out what A, B, C and D stand for...

I'm pretty sure it's 12. The central faces are correct by definition, and all the corners are correct as the sides you can see fix the corners you can partially see in the right place and right orientation, and you can rotate the completely hidden corner on its own. The sides you can partia...

Other puzzle trails use the approach of putting the answer in the URL. E.g. if the puzzle is here: www.mycleverpuzzletrail.co.uk/level1/ then I enter the answer "allyourbase" by directing my browser to www.mycleverpuzzletrail.co.uk/level1/allyourbase.html Which is effectively what the MD5 ...

Think about the length of the longest diagonal. This is length \sqrt{( a^{2} + b^{2} + c^{2} )} in the first box and \sqrt{( x^{2} + y^{2} + z^{2} )} in the second. To fit, the first value must be less than the second. If a+b+c is constant, the diagonal length is minimised when a \g...
