Re: Math markup

Right, thanks...I don't really have much of an excuse, I'm just used to different search mechanisms.

Which to study next?

This is a little silly... I have only two years of Japanese behind me, but I already have three new languages on my mind: Korean, German, and French. Any of them would probably be equally difficult for me, since Korean is quite similar to Japanese in grammar and shares some characters, and Romance l...

Re: Is there a solution to Monopolization of Free Markets?

That's a good point, Cooley. I was considering how to get rid of existing monopolies, but that does seem to be the trend. If no one can get a solid footing, then no one will "win" the market.

Re: Las Vegas, NV - August 7-10, 2008 -- DEFCON

Oh man, I would love to attend. I didn't make it last year, but my uncle, who had offered to take me, recorded some very interesting lectures for me. I'll be there if my schedule allows. It's complicated, since I'm planning to do GSoC this summer (of course, nothing stops me from hacking in a hotel ...

Math markup

This seems pretty obvious to me, so I apologize if this has already been brought up. phpBB makes it pretty difficult to search for some things. I've lurked for a good while, and noticed a recurring need: with all this math talk, it's a bit of a surprise that there isn't already a nice way of showing...

Re: Is there a solution to Monopolization of Free Markets?

Govt. influence on the economy is a game of balancing each of a pair of dice on the tip of a double-edged sword and a wire, while spinning plates. It's tricky. I don't know of any other nice way of getting rid of monopolies, though, since boycott is even trickier...isn't always an option in the mind...

Re: Instrumental rock

What's with that term, "math rock"? There's usually nothing math-related about it. Yeah, 65 days is very nice. Some interesting IDM influence in their stuff. Also very nice is their site design , which is by Version Industries , which also happens to have made some very nice designs for ot...

Re: Summer of Code 2008

Ooo, maybe something with haskell.org, or TUG, or BZFlag (heheh) might be fun. This is the first year I'm able to participate, but I was hoping that http://iolanguage.com or http://suckless.org would have made it in...I just started helping the Io guys out with patches etc. In any case, I admi...

Re: INTRO THREAD THE THIRD

What's going on, you pile of red steckled garblemungs? I thought this was for geeks! Not one of the eleventy-hundred of you even considered using this ingeniously simple handle? Bah. I'll get back to that later. For now, I'll just say "hi": I'm a bug (obviously). Not one of the bzillions b...
