Re: Trump presidency

The administration is very decisive when it suspiciously has a vested interest in the financial effects of certain policies. The rest of the time it seems completely inept, a game of telephone where the original player is cheating. "I can't speak for the president" Is all that you can say ...

Re: Gaming fleeting thoughts

I agree. I specifically highlighted the strategies going on with the analysis, because that is what we're talking about. I also highlighted the human elements, because that is what people often find most difficult to see. You notice how the casters are kind of all over the place. Sometimes they're e...

Re: Gaming fleeting thoughts

It strikes me that, while you're saying "strategy", what you're actually talking about is tactics. Deciding to go all in on blocking/guarding the ramp rather than diverting some of your forces to guard against flanking air units is a strategic decision, but the individual positioning deci...

Lightning Gun has finite range - that guy was beyond it. I haven't seen anything I could call blatant cheating for months now, but aimbots and wallhacks weren't rare a year or so ago though. I guess. It just seemed a little odd that they were standing still and I couldn't hit them, both times. Just...

Re: Gaming fleeting thoughts

The real time component and imperfect tools extrapolates the number of required decisions, many of which will have important effects on the game. In Civ the number of actual decisions you can make are small enough to be calculated (though not without difficulty). In Starcraft I would never be confid...

Re: Gaming fleeting thoughts

When I play turn based strategy I fully reflect upon every singular decision because each decision is presented in a singular way, wherein you should pick the choices that most benefit your grand strategy. Usually you aren't aware of what your grand strategy is yet, you have to feel around first. Bu...

Witcher 3's late game is all about stacking bonuses so that you can continue to one-shot things or otherwise kill very rapidly. That's how you tackle death march. If you do only story missions, you'll find that the game is slightly difficult but doable. You can also completely ignore the story missi...

I almost went the Battletech route too, but I decided against it because I couldn't find any videos demonstrating that the AI was interesting, or that you ever felt like you were among powerful mechs that dwarfed the Earth. The battles in Battletech all look like rock-'em-sock-'em slugfests. My flav...

Or, at least, don't enter into any negotiations or any deal where Trump might maybe think that you might not be complying with your end of the bargain. Facts need not apply. The general skill of players related to their league has fluctuated a lot over SC2's life, and it's mainly due to changes directly by Blizzard. They've experimented a lot with increasing and decreasing the size of bronze league and where the system prefers to place people. It seems like they've sett...

There's a process, it just costs more money than the pension is worth and has no guarantee of success. There's not a lot of legal precedent about flagrant abuse of presidential power, because usually it would cause issues even with their own party. GOP is complicit, so there's zero accountability, a...

Loot Boxes and Battlefronts

The Star Wars Battlefront reboot releases in 2015 as a success despite a significant portion of gamers feeling it was a barebones release specifically due to the lack of a campaign. I don't think SOMA really followed through too well either, as the dialogue never really advances the themes so much as it's just about a clueless person who is reacting to them. It's a more traditional game with enemies and an endless quest of fixing the station, and while it's probably the weakest...
