Re: "Time Travel" Discussion

Dear Past boardizens. I’ve traveled here from the year 2012 (from December 22—the world doesn’t end by the way) to be the first poster of this thread. Unfortunately I had forgotten my login... But now that I’m here, doesn't this “to” construction imply that my sole purpose for her whole time travel ...

According to Random House the hyphenation is yes-ter-day; or am I missing something?

Re: "Crime Scene" Discussion

I bet this murder was staged by the Black Hat Couple intentionally without any mathematical curiosities in order to vex George Frankly.

Yes, even "Mandelbrot".

Re: Words that you are sure exist, but can't find

Yes, "vocation" has way more spirituality potential than "calling" but my word was quite commonplace really and allowed for no ambiguity about the divine nature of what it described. Then again it might have been the coffee; it tends to do things with my brain. About the lie, I l...

Being German, I second that; yet I got used to it.

For a few weeks now I can't seem to remember a certain term which I think was rather familiar before. It means something like "calling" or "vocation" but in a less secular and more spiritual sense.

The Book of the New Sun by Gene Wolfe This one's interesting, because none of the words are actually made up - they're all either English words that have fallen into disuse, or foreign words (which may also have fallen into disuse). Since the books are tremendously good, I take it the graph shouldn...

fix'd? Didn't ask me.

You know, I'm such a cryptic and indirect geek... Do you think "I feel so 10230 since I know you" would be a good line?

Re: "Impostor" Discussion

Back in school I once elaborated on some implicit meanings in the Ring Parable for about 5 minutes, while having only a very vague idea what it is about and no clue at all what implicit meanings I was supposed to reveal. Afterwards the teacher proudly announced I was right. ^^

Or the ones who feel similarly are most likely to post in the corresponding thread. No less spooky.

Re: "Thinking Ahead" Discussion

@ShaKri Sorry, I really didn't want to make fun of spelling mistakes or anything. Not only because that would be close to intellectual suicide, but especially because I see language as a complex ever evolving system of equally complex intertwined dynamics, perhaps even close to having its own consci...

I don't remember the quote. What episode is it from? Eating that ice planet. I'm doing this overthinking part all the time, that's why I eschew going to stores or outside at all, yet I constantly feel miserable about my lack of girlfriend, and then listen to sad music... I have other queer (in the ...

I think we should constitute a binding standard for Summer Glau ventings, controlling things like this controversial xkcd-attribution and of course bibliographic references. There is for example this ISO standard: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_690 . Also important is this "p.s. [...]" s...
