Re: Fleeting/Random/Thoughts (now with 20% more fungus!)

I thought about making this sweet bong earlier... A two-chambered double-filtered lung bong. Here it is in ASCII form for your viewing pleasure: -------=-------- ------/*/ |bag/|vodka|==|water| |__/ |_____| |_____| The * is the weed. Basically, you burn the weed at the right side, and pull the bag o...

Re: Personal Art links: DeviantArt, flickr, etc.

My Deviantart is http://danjp.deviantart.com I almost exclusively do photography, but I also draw occasionally, and have one or two old poems on that account. The subject of my photography is usually some thing abstract or uncommon, and usually moody and expressive, but there are some shots of prett...

Re: Drugs and other addictive things

I don't really use any drugs, barely even legal ones. But at the same time, I think anyone should be allowed to do whatever they want to or with their bodies. I also really agree with the first post saying that it's about the American ideal worker, and how every other drug just doesn't fit into that...

Re: Awesome bands that nobody's heard of

I don't feel like reading through 260+ posts... but I bet no-one has mentioned Worm Quartet, or penfifteen yet. Worm Quartet is a techno-punk-comedy one man band. Take a look at http://wormquartet.com/ penfifteen is a local techno-rock-death metal-country-punk-rap-polka-folk-comedy one man band. htt...

Re: Cutest/Most romantic lyric

Not exactly a cute lyrics, but I think it's romantic... "And so it's the last day on Earth, we'll be together while the planet dies." From "Last Day on Earth" by Marilyn Manson. Romantic in that sort of "well fuck... we're about to die" kind of way. "You and me, ev...

Re: Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.

I have to disagree with the thread's title. I really, really hate the taste of beer, and I've had quite a few different kinds. And, I'm in Canada... allegedly our beer is better than the US's beer, I can't say if that's true or not. Maybe just Canuck propaganda? But anyway, I've never been able to g...

Re: Best Album Openers?

"Intolerance" - Tool, from the Undertow album. It's like half a minute of strange gurgling noises that are a cross between off-board motor and bong hit, and then some sputtering that's almost like someone drowning... and then massive heaviness! "Bombtrack" - Rage Against the Mac...

Re: Training an Ear

I'd say work her into some (as someone else suggested) U2 or Bon Jovi... try to make it some of their heavier stuff though (I use the word "heavier" loosely). After a while, maybe go with some other mainstream louder rock, Nickelback *shudder*, Foo Fighters, Incubus, that sort of thing. Ev...

Re: Punk Rock

I'm not big into the punk rock... this confuses people, as I have a mohawk and shirts with offensive things on them. But I like some Sex Pistols and Ramones every now and then. I'm a bit of a punk-noob, I guess. I'll probably go through this thread and listen to a bit of everything you guys have men...

Re: 42 [The Hitchhiker's Thread]

I read the whole series in-between calls at my old call-centre job, so I should probably read it again to enjoy it more.

But I have to say I liked the bit about God disappearing in a puff of logic.

Re: What is your favourite book?

I really liked Yann Martel's "Life of Pi", it had a lot of re-read value.
Chuck Pahlaniuk's "Fight Club" was also good, although I sort of regret seeing the movie before I read the book.
My favorite is probably a toss-up between those two books.

Re: INTRO THREAD THE THIRD

Hi, my name is Daniel. I'm 19 and I'm from Prince Edward Island, Canada. It sucks. And yes, if you die here, you really do die in real life. I like to do stuff. "Stuff" being artsy stuff like music, drawing, photography, painting, and the like, and also non-artsy stuff like climbing other ...
