Re: Object oriented programming is bullshit

It sounds like your real problem is with up-front design? I've actually had a ton of success with object oriented programming techniques and incremental development. My problem is more to do with the idea that you can completely plan a programming project without doing any programming. I'm sure tha...

Re: Object oriented programming is bullshit

Or perhaps a bit of 'planning without the ability to code will not set you up for success'. Of course I love to hear success stories, I just get a bit of overload from people who have degrees in planning but no experience whatsoever in developing software. But I'm sure there was at least one person ...

Object oriented programming is bullshit

http://mollyrocket.com/casey/stream_0019.html Long story short, classes and objects are tools that arise from organizing the code that you write, but they don't make the waterfall methodology work and they aren't a magic bullet to make code reusable. Most code is inherently procedural, and the act o...

Seems like a variant of the thought experiment where you can take the organs of one healthy person in order to save the lives of five others, unless the ethics for some reason dramatically change when talking about non-humans. Actually I'm curious how different people consider the ethics to be... Is...

In my opinion, while coding per say probably needn't be a mandatory class, I think a class dedicated to understanding logic, algorithms, and debugging should be. If you have the camera transforms, then each 2D point really represents a 3D line in your scene. You can attempt to find where these lines intersect (or since there is likely to be some error, find the closest points between the lines and average the result)

Unless you are trying to scan convert onto a pixel grid or something, in which case yeah, you will want to implement Bresenham which should be able to work entirely with integers.

Not sure why you are dealing in angles at all here. If you have p0 and p1, and want to find p2 such that p2 - p1 == p1 - p0, then all you have to do is calculate p1 + (p1 - p0).

I think it made sense to have only his disciples providing first-hand accounts, and the later historians to (briefly) record him. But don't historians typically agree that none of the books of the bible were actually written by disciples? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Authorship_of_the_Bible#New_Tes...

Re: C bmp image turning by arbitrary angle

This is a subset of the problem of texture mapping in general. You first iterate over all of the destination pixels that you need to fill and calculate texture coordinates for that pixel. This is typically done by interpolating between the texture coordinates of adjacent vertices. After you have don...

And in all honesty, that's a valid point. Just one that has nothing to do with the Occupy movement. Homelessness in this country is a problem, a very multifaceted problem that is more than worthy of tons of discussion. Can you clarify how you think it's particularly pertinent to the Occupy message?...

Lock Stock When you are essentially a survivor, sometimes the best thing you can do is claim lyncher. Not explicitly of course, but with sufficient overzealous actions it won't take long for the town to figure out what your goal appears to be. An outed lyncher is pretty much the most harmless th...

One thing that struck me most was something Mav also seemed to notice - for all the people that die, and even with the characters more shades of grey than black and white, it's pretty damn easy to pick out the protagonists.
