My guess would be it's because any such thread must end as soon as it begins due to (a misapplication of) Godwin's Law.

I cannot believe I'm the first person to notice the bad grammar in the alt text. It should read, "The worst resolution to the Valentine Prisoner's Dilemma _IS_ when" etc. I thought for sure xkcd readers were too smart to overlook something this blatant. Mayvbe, like me, they spotted it bu...

People said the same about http://xkcd.com/404/ - but that shows the blackout banner, whereas http://xkcd.com/wghmfdmf shows a 404. So I think that means that 404 is definitely a comic, not a missing comic. I think you're interpreting evidence of an overgeneralised URL parser as evidence that 404 i...

"dressed as" and "dressed like" are the same thing. If you're going to be a pedant, then "dressed up as a bat" or "dressed so as to appear bat-like" are the phrases you want.

Actually I don't think you should say even now that chess computers are consistently beating the top humans, not as conclusively as one would like to be able to say it at least. The last of these matches was between Vladimir Kramnik and Deep Fritz in 2006, with four draws, and two wins to the compu...

We'd accept that Darwin was a real human being whose existence is supported by evidence and entirely falsifiable, and accept that he was an ordinary human being who was subject to the natural urges that apply to any human being. As such, the possibility that he was unfaithful is entirely possible. I...

I, being a lover of science yet a strong believer in Christianity and the inerrancy of God's Word, felt I must get my two cents in. First I must say that I take the Bible literally, cover to cover, and use it as the basis for all my beliefs (bitwise seemed to differ on this point). Arguing over the...

The most important books for Christian faith are the Gospels. The synoptic Gospels (Matthew, Mark and especially Luke) are written as eyewitness reports. They are not fiction, at least not in a modern sense, though they could of course be lies or exaggerated, or the apostles might have been brillia...

Not necessarily, a larger penis could mean lower tax. The description doesn't say what the relationship is. It could be quadratic, so average penis size pays most/least tax.

There are several issues here. First, anyone who is older than 10 years old that uses or citing an encyclopedæ for anything serious is misusing the resource. An encyclopedæ can let a novice in a subject get a feel for the subject and understand certain aspects. Under no conditions is the encycloped...

Better to mount the camera vertically with a conical mirror for 360 vision in my opinion.
