Re: Does anyone else dislike most kids?

I suppose it's not that I dislike kids (except when they're loud and annoying, but really that goes for people in general), but I feel uncomfortable around them. I'm the youngest in my family, never really been around kids younger than me much at all, so I don't really know how to communicate with t...

Re: [SAFESPACE] Woman Thread - All Things Women. Period.

Spoilered for difference to current conversation Does anyone else occasionally get itchy nipples? It's so annoying, because the itchy one ends up erect all the time (probably because I keep rubbing it, which I'm trying to stop - thankfully I'm at home and not at work or something!&#...

Okay. I just worried on retrospect I had made it sound like having a degree is the most important thing in life ever, thought I should clarify.
But I did enjoy the dog booping picture. :)

Re: Awesome Thread: awesome

Hey, bopping certain people on the head would give me great happiness right now. Possibly more happiness than a job could. But yeah, I know a degree is not necessarily the most useful thing ever. But while everything else seems to be going wrong, it's something I've managed to achieve and feel proud...

Re: Awesome Thread: awesome

I just feel awesome. I feel like rolling up my new degree into its red cardboard tube and bopping people over the head with it. "Oh, so you messed me about for weeks, making me miserable for my whole graduation week? Well *bop* screw you, cos I have a degree!" "Oh, so you ended up get...

I like to pronounce camembert with all the letters (camem-burt) simply to annoy my mother, who always used to comment on my dreadful French pronunciation.

Re: Nonsensical English...

I've collected quite a list of ambiguous phrases here , and while most of them are probably not such in the ear of a native speaker, given proper context, they may be rather ambiguous to a foreigner (aka international person). Many of them I found by falling into them, i.e. misunderstanding at firs...

Re: Awesome Thread: awesome

Got my guitar down from the attic for the first time in about 6 years today, started tuning it, realised there was a string missing. DISASTER. But NO! I had strings lying about my room, and my dad was home to string it for me (since I'm inept at that kind of thing). So now I'm happily messing about ...

Re: Annoying words, and Words You Hate

I sort of hate the words "photographer" and "pronunciation", simply because I have to make a huge effort every time I say them not to pronounce them as "photo-grapher" and "pronounciation". I know the right pronunciations, but for some reason they just won't s...

Hmm, female vocalists are very absent from the mp3 player/cd collection.
That said,
Amanda Palmer will forever be one of my very favourite musicians.

The Pipettes. An ex took me along to see them perform years and years ago, I quite liked them.

Blondie, one of the bands I was brought up on.

It can be yours! Well, the corset can (got it in the sale at http://www.corset-story.com/), the thing under it ("bolero", I think it's called?) I found in a charity shop a while ago, but I think they have similar things on that site.

I have a friend who believes eating your Chinese zodiac animal (in his case, rabbit) is unlucky. Not sure if that's a commonly held belief or just his personal view, since I've never known anyone who takes the zodiac as super seriously as he does.

Nonsensical English...

I spent part of my year abroad for my degree as an English language assistant at a high school, where I discovered that English is a bit of a pain in the ass to teach, since some things don't seem to have proper rules/just don't make sense. For example, "shit"=bad, "the shit"=goo...

I maintain that Humpty Dumpty is not an egg, and parents just decided to start telling their children that he was only an egg, as otherwise it is quite a disturbing little rhyme.
