Re: 1712: Politifact

Re: politifact Not that I have studied this scientifically, but it seems like politifact does have a few issues. [...] If I had the time and funding, I'd dig into these potential issues deeper and see if my hunches have any credibility to them, but for now I just treat politifact like another sourc...

Re: 1190: "Time"

There's a precedent: one Smoot is definitely a lying-down length of a person. Yes, so to measure altitude you'd need to measure in short-Smoots. (Actually, I had thought it was a circumfrence - lore I'm familiar with indicates he was rolled home. However I've seen it the other way too. Smoot was ro...

Re: 1190: "Time"

Has somebody already calculated, when exactly the frame number will reach the current comic's number? It should be number 1210 and happen sometime on thursday, if my rough guess is correct. Are there any interesting meanings to that number? I could have done some math wrong, and someone probably al...

Re: 1190: "Time"

Have we completely given up on hacking the images out? Surely somebody could write a virus that will speed up Randll's computer clock a thousand times or so? If this had been a .gif to start with, or if it had been hacked/spoiled, most of us would've moved on by now. With a half hour of thought bet...

No one can follow this thread properly. That's part of the fun.

Re: 1190: "Time"

I know that last time resulted in Castle 2, but it makes me slightly sad when Cueball is building by himself without Megan.

Does that include the second attempt at Pickup Artist as well?

No, it does not. I didn't know there was a second attempt.

Re: 1191: "The Past"

Speaking of Wikipedia: I wonder how different the present would be if someone just took a database dump of Wikipedia back in time 20 years. Tangentally, this touches on something I've thought about from time to time. What if you went back a bit further and told the people designing the library inte...

Re: Tsunami water level rising/falling (need more posts so I can quote)

Tsunamis can rise before dropping back depending on how they are initiated.

Re: 1190: "Time"

Re: which character would get pregnant (since I haven't posted enough) The character requesting the creation of a child says "can you do me", which at least in my book means that character is female. If it was the other way around, the proper phrasing would be "can I do you". Lik...

Re: What-If 0001: Relativistic Baseball

A careful reading of official Major League Baseball Rule 6.08(b) suggests that in this situation, the batter would be considered "hit by pitch", and would be eligible to advance to first base. Respectfully, I must disagree with this interpretation of 6.08(b). It is my understanding that i...
