Re: The "IT DOESN'T WORK!" thread

Oookay, no, I wasn't aware of that facet of out of bounds initiation. I was wondering why the error code came up negative bounds Yeah, right now the code's incomplete. I'm not comfortable enough with the language to debug a whole thing at once, so I test and call it piece by piece. Yes, the Morse co...

Re: The "IT DOESN'T WORK!" thread

Right, I'm familiar with the overflow error, I just'd figured that the counter < characterArray.length requirement in the for loop would've kept the counter from reaching the point in the first place. Was the error in the array itself? I'll try to track it down more, regardless. I'm running off two ...

Re: The "IT DOESN'T WORK!" thread

Well hot damn. What exactly was it about the previous initialization that was throwing it off, if I may ask? The sample code we'd been given was always initialized with literals, and I tried as best I could in my testing to keep under the character limits. The course I've been taking doesn't do much...

Re: The "IT DOESN'T WORK!" thread

I have spent the last 5 hours on my first semester project for my Java one class dealing with nothing but constant overflow runtime errors. Which in my opinion, runtime errors are the cruelest, because just, just when you think you've got it debugged, it crushed your last glimmer of hope. I am at th...

Re: How Do I Learn About [n]?

I've installed Ubuntu 11.10 (Lucid Lynx?) originally, I do believe there have been some updates that I need to get installed. The most messing around I've done in the command prompt has been to install a patch that lets me communicate with my printer, and to track down Python's IDLE. The basics and ...

Re: How Do I Learn About [n]?

This seems to be the most relevant thread I can find, even though my query does not directly relate to a programming language. Where can I learn about Linux? I was recently given an old computer with Linux loaded on it and was told I could crash, mangle, manipulate, or mess with it in any way I plea...

Re: The Devil's Quarter Game

So, I'll admit that I am not the most spatially aware, I did notice a trend in this discussion and am curious if it will bring any effect on the outcome. Everyone, thus far, has been placing quarters touching the center quarter, that the Devil placed. Is there some way, by which you manage the gap b...

Re: Pant Thread (because we need more panting)

People who think that metal is the Devil's music. Yes, I like metal. Yes, I am Christian. No, they're not screaming at me. Not, they're not randomly bashing on keyboards. Well, only in some certain subgenres but those more or less deal with deconstr- Yes I am positive I'm not a satanist! Look, scien...
